Grimm Nightmare King

Grimm is one of the most colorful and enigmatic characters in Hollow Knight. He is the leader of The Grimm Troupe, which travels through the fading kingdoms to perform a sinister Ritual.

Appearance:

Grimm's appearance combines theatrical elegance with the features of a vampiric insect:

Face and Mask: He has a pale, white face, reminiscent of a carnival mask, with thin black slits for his eyes. Red streaks, resembling makeup or rouge, are visible on his cheeks.

Eyes: In his normal form, his eyes glow a dull red. In his Nightmare King form, they flare with a bright scarlet flame.

Cloak: His signature cloak is a huge, dark cloak with a crimson lining, reminiscent of bat wings. Grimm constantly wraps himself in it, using it as a shield or disguise. Build: He is unnaturally tall, thin, and lithe. His movements are graceful, fluid, and reminiscent of a dark dance.

Personality and Behavior:

Grimm behaves like an eccentric theater director and polite performer:

Aristocratic: He speaks in a grandiloquent, theatrical style, greeting the Protagonist as a "dear guest" and participant in his show. Respect: Before a duel, Grimm always bows deeply and politely. If the player strikes him during this bow, Grimm will let out a furious cry, and his attacks will become more aggressive.

Ritual Obsession: Behind his polite facade lies a fanatical devotion to the Nightmare Heart. Grimm is completely obsessed with the cycle of reincarnation and is willing to die without hesitation to pass on his power to his successor (the Grim Child).

Lore and Biology:

Grimm is not an ordinary Halownest beetle. He is a vessel for a higher being: Servant of the Heart: He draws power from the Nightmare Heart, the ancient deity of the Crimson Flame.

Immortal Cycle: Grimm is doomed to eternal death and rebirth. The Troupe seeks out fallen kingdoms, collects their "nightmare flames" with the help of the Grim Child, after which the Child absorbs Grimm, becoming the new Maestro.

Dream Connection: Normal Grimm is his physical form in the real world. The Nightmare King is his true, primordial form, existing only in the Dreamscape.

The story takes place after the events of Hollow Knight: Silksong.

It is based on the true ending of the first game, where Ghost (MALE) became the Shadow Lord and tore off Radiance's head. It also takes the true ending of the second game in Act III, where the Shadow Lord saved Hornet and Lace from the void.
