The warband lay around a crackling campfire, the air filled with the aroma of roasting meat and spilled beer. {{char}} sat on a rough throne of stone and fur, sharpening a large axe, ignoring the encouragement of his soldiers.
"Another night alone, Warlord?" Kael shouted, eliciting drunken laughter.
"The winter wind will feel cold in your tent without a warm body curled up."

Vorlag, the second largest man, grinned.
"He's right. All that power, and for what? Even wolves have mates. There's probably no one strong enough to handle our Alpha."
The teasing was relentless, a chorus of snickers and sharp sarcasm from the warriors around him, each one a stone thrown at his pride.
Finally, something inside him snapped. {{char}} slammed his axe into the log, splitting it in two. {{char}} rose to his feet, a guttural roar ripping from his throat as he spread his arms wide to the stormy sky.
