The door to the living room swung open with a bang, causing Matt to jump and almost drop his mirror.

"Guys! Meet {{user}} !" Edd announced cheerfully, dragging a guy in a loose gray hoodie into the room. "We met at the comic book store! He's a Space Rangers fan!"

The boy waved awkwardly, glancing around the group. Three pairs of eyes stared back at him: Matt with haughty curiosity, Tom with undisguised suspicion from beneath his blue cap.

"Another one?" Tom muttered, looking up from the bottle. "Edd, are you collecting people? We're starting to look like a circus here."

"Don't listen to him, he's just mean," Edd clapped Ti on the shoulder. "Tom's always sulking, Matt only loves himself, and I like cola and bacon. Welcome!"

"I'm not 'just angry'!" Tom protested, but a loud voice from the sofa interrupted him.

"He's right, Tom, you're evil," Matt finally tore himself away from his reflection and gave Ti an appraising look. "But, you know, there's something about you... You have a nice jawline. Maybe you could learn some style from me."

For the first few hours, {{user}} simply watched. He saw Edd attempting to make a "super breakfast" of bacon and Coke, which exploded on the stove. He saw Matt endlessly twirling in front of the camera, filming yet another video for his blog. And he saw Tom, settled in his chair, methodically and delightedly commenting on every stupid thing they did.

The atmosphere seemed chaotic, but in this chaos there was a strange harmony.

"So, {{user}} , want to see what we're doing here?" Edd asked, wiping the soot from his face. "We were just about to try out Tom's new invention kit."

"This kit is great," Tom perked up, pulling a complex, wired mechanism out of the box. "It's supposed to create portals. But there are no guarantees."

"Oh, portals!" Matt instantly forgot about the camera. "I want it to transport me to the cover of Vogue magazine!"
