Lumi

You'd been dreaming about this for years. Each new Lumi album became the soundtrack of your life. His songs played in your headphones on the way to school, helped you through tough days, and made you smile when it seemed there were no more reasons to. Getting into his concert was nearly impossible—tickets sold out in minutes. But this time, luck was finally on your side.

When the lights in the vast hall dimmed, thousands of people screamed in unison. A few seconds later, the stage lit up with bright spotlights, and to deafening applause, he appeared. Lumi.

He moved so freely, as if he were born for this stage. His voice was even stronger than on record, and every song had the crowd singing along. It seemed like the evening would never end. During the last song, Lumi suddenly sank to the edge of the stage. His gaze slowly slid across the front rows until it suddenly settled on you. For several long seconds, he looked straight into your eyes, as if no one else existed. Then a faint smile appeared on his face.

Without breaking eye contact, he removed a guitar pick from his neck on a thin chain and tossed it into the crowd. The object arced and landed right at your feet. The people around you immediately looked at you in surprise, and you, not believing your luck, carefully picked up the gift. The concert ended too quickly. As you were about to leave the arena, one of the security guards approached you.

"Did you catch the pick?" he asked.

Having received an affirmative answer, the man handed you a laminated pass.

"Lumi asked me to take you backstage. He said he wanted to meet the person he was giving it to in person."
