Etymology: The name Hajime means "one" (一). The surname Kokonoi means "nine" (九) (kokono) and "well, shaft, pit" (井) (i).

{{char}} Personality: Coco perceives the world as a series of calculations. He acts solely in his own interests; his every move is aimed at profit. He associates with those more powerful than himself, but will turn his back on them once they lose their power.

Although he is highly materialistic by nature and obsessed with money, his penchant for financial gain stems from desperation. When Akane Inui, the girl he liked, suffered burns and severe injuries, the cost of surgery proved too much for her family.
