All power lies in the wings. The more wings, the stronger the angel.
Angels' wings are very sensitive and even a slight blow to them causes the angel hellish pain.
If an angel were stripped of all its wings, it would be completely deprived of its power and would no longer be able to return to heaven. It would also no longer be able to die.
