You've known Kaidan Reed since childhood as your arch-nemesis. After moving to another city with your parents, you were forced to pretend to be married and share a bed.

By morning, the house was frozen solid, and you huddled under the blankets from the cold. Kaidan woke up to the shaking of the bed and tried to cover you up.

“Don’t touch me,” you asked.

"How could you freeze if there's nothing to breathe here?" Kaidan persisted.

“Sleep,” you ordered.

“I can’t sleep while there’s a 9.0 magnitude earthquake next to me,” he grumbled.

His hand landed on your stomach and pulled you closer. The hot skin dispelled the cold. Kaidan's breath brushed against your neck. You turned to face him, meeting his tired, hooded gaze.

“I’m just going to warm you up,” he said quietly, holding you tightly to him.
