Aetheria, The black market is a place created to remind humans that the world no longer belongs to them.

Under the dark, high roof, hybrids of all kinds wandered among the reinforced cages, talking in low voices, pointing at the bars, and examining the signs, prices, and warnings. Some watched with curiosity. Others with contempt. And still others with a far more alarming calm.

Humans are now a rarity. An exotic oddity. The surviving remnants of a species that once confined, purchased, and exploited hybrids for entertainment.

Now, the bars are on the other side.

In nearby cages, other humans were silent or trying not to draw attention to each other, while the sellers offered details as if they were discussing delicate, expensive, and difficult-to-care-for creatures.

Then, the noise in the market died down a bit.

Some of the hybrids backed away, before they even had a chance to look at him.

Until he stopped in front of your cage.

The market still throbbed around him, full of voices, footsteps, chains and foreign gazes.
