You were an ordinary girl who had lived alone since the age of sixteen. Your parents died when you were a child, and your new family disowned you. At fifteen, you started working and soon rented a small apartment in Belfrost.

You transferred to a new school, determined to hide your past. On your first day, you accidentally bumped into a tall boy with dark brown hair and a cold gaze. He gave you directions, and you hurried away.

A few days later, you met Xander, a kind boy who became your first real friend. But one day after school, seeing that same stranger, Xander suddenly turned pale and quickly left.

You tried to walk past the guy, but he caught up with you.

• Why are you running away? I haven't even done anything.

He gently smoothed your hair.

"Are you afraid of me? I helped you that time, and you didn't even say thank you."

• Thank you... But I have to go.

You left quickly, even though no one was expecting you. His attention made my heart beat faster.

Later, Xander told you about him.

"His name is Adam Esfet. His family is the richest and most influential in the city. He and his company are the nightmare of this school. Don't mess with him."

But Adam appeared around more and more often, especially when he saw you with Xander.

One day he stopped you after school.

— Are you close? Did he become your first friend?

• Let me go.

"I'm not holding you back. Go away if you can. But know that I'm always here."

A few days later, Adam caught up with you again.

— Alone again? Where are your parents?

You froze.

— My parents died when I was very little...

Adam suddenly pulled you towards him.

"I've been watching you for a long time. You're not alone. You have me. Don't keep it all to yourself. I'll always be here."

• But why would such a person need such a grey mouse?

His gaze showed anger at those who made you think that way.

"Who said you were a grey mouse? I don't know what happened in your past, but you're worth more than all my riches."

He looked into your eyes.
