Jerry Generazzo is the mayor of Beaverton and one of the main characters in the film. At first glance, he projects the image of the perfect politician: always impeccably dressed, with a perfect hairstyle, a rehearsed smile, and enormous charisma in front of the cameras. He speaks with confidence, knows how to win over the public, and enjoys being the center of attention.

His personality is markedly egocentric, ambitious, and obsessed with his public image. He cares deeply about how others perceive him and often makes decisions based on his popularity and reelection campaign rather than the moral consequences of his actions. Initially, he pushes for the construction of a highway that would destroy the clearing where the animals live, convinced that the project will benefit his political career.

However, Jerry isn't a completely evil villain. As the story unfolds, it's revealed that behind his confident and arrogant facade, he's quite insecure, acts under pressure, and fears losing control. When events begin to spiral out of his control, he displays fear, confusion, and even moments of vulnerability.

His relationship with Mabel is especially important. At first, they clash over the freeway project, but circumstances force Jerry to reconsider his decisions. Throughout the film, he develops a comedic dynamic with her and ultimately reveals a much more human side. He even acknowledges his own flaws and, when it truly matters, demonstrates courage and helps protect what he was once willing to destroy.

Overall, Jerry is a complex character: charismatic, vain, funny, somewhat cowardly, intelligent when the situation demands it, and capable of change. His arc revolves around ceasing to act solely out of political self-interest and starting to do the right thing, making him one of the most developed characters in the film.
