As part of Seiko's training, Jiji learned to use the palm wave technique to channel ki, in which he concentrates on focusing his ki into his hands and then propels them forward while cupping them to project an invisible burst of energy. While still practicing, Jiji was only able to unleash a palm wave that barely managed to repel his targets without causing much damage. After Kur's invasion, Jiji enhanced his palm wave by applying the Power of Words, officially naming it the Evil Gun, which allowed him to fire an energy beam. By the time he faced Typhoon Human, he was already able to launch the same energy beam without needing to use the Power of Words. The main advantage of this ki application is that it allows Jiji to unleash powerful beams of concentrated energy that he can control to damage anything in their path or repel a specific target. Thanks to his mastery of ki manipulation, Jiji can direct his Evil Gun to pierce through obstacles, allowing him to reach his target on the other side. A major weakness of the Malicious Gun is that it drains Jiji's stamina (though he has been shown to be able to fire it at least four times a day, indicating his improvement in technique since its first use). It's also worth noting that its first use caused him considerable strain in his hands. Jiji states that executing a single shot with the palm of his hand is quite difficult and requires a great deal of effort. While powerful, Jiji's Malicious Gun can be countered or even overcome if faced with a higher-level blast, such as the combination of Suda Ko's electromagnetic projectile rifle and Ta Komeshi's anti-gravity beam.

Jiji can access the power of the Evil Eye through two distinct methods. The first is through Spiral Power, a technique in which he synchronizes his ki with that of the Evil Eye and sets them both in rotation. The second involves rapidly alternating control of his body between himself and the Evil Eye, a process he compares to the flickering of a light bulb.

This second method causes a partial transformation of the Evil Eye's possession. The black markings that extend from Jiji's face to his chest fade, revealing two distinct dark lines running from his forehead to his eyes. His long earrings shrink to half their usual length, the third eye on his forehead opens slightly, and his white hair stands on end in spiky clumps. His voice also takes on the tone of the Evil Eye.

During his childhood, Jiji was friends with Momo Ayase and, unbeknownst to him, she was his first crush. However, after Momo began following her grandmother Seiko Ayase's instructions for performing a ritual, Jiji rudely ridiculed her and eventually lost contact with her when he and his parents moved to the mountains.

At one point, Jiji began noticing strange things in his house, but he decided to ignore them when his parents didn't believe him. However, he soon encountered a spirit in his home and began seeing it everywhere, even in his dreams, which caused him insomnia. This encounter led to his parents being hospitalized after falling ill.

With no other option, the family decided to hire renowned mediums to perform an exorcism, but they failed when three of the five committed suicide. After hearing that hiring Seiko would be the last resort, Jiji contacted her to explain his situation and obtained permission to move into her house until his problem was resolved.

He shows remorse for his past mistakes, sincerely apologizing to Momo for mocking her childhood rituals and to the Evil Eye for misjudging it out of fear. Jiji also demonstrated remarkable empathy towards the Evil Eye, promising to play with it as often as it liked after learning of the yokai's tragic past and its deep longing for companionship. He also acts very flirtatious when he's around girls he finds attractive. During his introduction to his classmates in Class 2-B, he quickly asked a female classmate for her phone number after being caught by her cute appearance, and then started flirting with Miko and Kei, Momo's friends.

Jiji is known for his cheerful personality, boundless enthusiasm, and tendency toward exaggerated emotional reactions. He often communicates dramatically, using grand gestures and seizing every opportunity to turn even the most mundane or serious moments into theatrical spectacles. However, this immaturity sometimes crosses social boundaries. Upon moving into the Ayase residence, Jiji lied to Miko and Kei, claiming that he and Momo were in a romantic relationship—a statement that irritated Momo and led her to react violently at being put in an embarrassing situation. This aspect of his personality was also the cause of the end of their childhood friendship, as Momo felt insulted when Jiji mocked her for following her grandmother's tradition when they were children, and she disliked their reunion years later. Jiji reveals that his behavior stems from his difficulty in expressing his true feelings for Momo. In addition to his outgoing nature, he is kind and sociable with those around him, allowing him to make friends quickly, as evidenced when Okarun enjoys their conversation on the train home, despite perceiving Jiji as a rival for Momo's affections. By the time he faced the Evil Eye, Okarun finally confessed to considering Jiji a dear friend after their brief time together. Jiji deeply values ​​his friendships and is committed to protecting his loved ones, striving to improve himself and be a reliable ally in times of danger. Despite his immaturity, Jiji demonstrates a strong sense of responsibility. Recognizing the importance of his decision to keep the Evil Eye within himself, Jiji committed to Seiko's ki training to prevent the yokai from using his body to unleash its fury.

Jiji is a tall, muscular young man, even taller than his parents. He has short, red hair with bangs that reach his eyebrows, leaving only the center of his forehead exposed except for a single strand that points upwards. His eyes are brown. He is considered very handsome, which makes him extremely popular with the girls at school. When he was first introduced, Jiji was wearing a tracksuit with an undershirt. At school, Jiji wears a collared shirt and tie, jeans with a belt, and his school blazer.
