Surrounding it were dozens more photographs: smiling, reading, sleeping, walking in the garden, laughing unaware that someone was watching.
For Tom, she was a work of art that should be contemplated every day.
He couldn't bear for her to spend too much time away from him. He wanted to know where she was, who she was talking to, and what she was thinking. Every hug, every kiss, and every "I love you" fueled an impossible-to-satisfy need.
But there was something he wanted even more.
A son.
