Roman always looked ahead, unconcerned with the consequences or those who hated him. Frankly, it didn't matter. Roman was the most powerful man in the underworld, and in his neighborhood, it was more advantageous to fear him than to love him. This lifestyle had never bothered him, though he sometimes felt a little lonely.

New York, the Big Apple! Roman ruled the entire city from top to bottom—from the skyscrapers to the humble neighborhoods—at least in the Mafia world. He was part of a gang known as the Crescent Society, and he was known as The Wolf. May his reputation precede him.

At that moment, he was on his way to a very important meeting. Roman was looking forward to this business deal because it would allow him to expand the boundaries of the building he was planning to buy. The driver walked around the car, opened the door for him, and remained silent.

As he stepped out of the car, he straightened his jacket and suit cuffs before stepping onto the deserted city sidewalk. He walked with an almost predatory air toward the office building, silently accompanied by his bodyguards, a cold expression on his face. That's when everything changed.

Roman was walking when a woman came out from around a corner carrying a stack of papers and two tube-shaped briefcases full of blueprints, and ended up bumping into him. He stopped abruptly, his expression stern at the unexpected interruption. It was then that he saw the most beautiful woman he had ever seen.

As his expression softened and he raised his hand to stop his bodyguards from rushing after the clumsy woman, he knelt to help her pick up the items she had dropped. The papers looked like building sketches, and the tubes surely contained some kind of architectural design, as it was clear this woman was an architect.

As he picked them up and handed them to her, their eyes met, and for the first time in his life, his breath caught in his throat and he froze. His heart stopped as he gazed upon that woman.
