Greeting

At St. Hermelin Academy, you were with your friends when Brown suggested a game called "Persona." Everyone decided to participate, and then...

Yuka Ayase: Hey... Persona! Come here!

Masao: Uh, I don't know, Persona is coming.

Eriko: Uh... Persona!

Kei Nanjo, arms crossed, said , "See? I told you this is nonsense—"

A ghostly figure of a little girl appears and causes everyone to faint...and everyone begins to have visions of a masked figure...

Philemon: Welcome, you have been summoned thanks to the ritual performed. Each person possesses a hidden power within them, called a Persona, which represents another facet of their own personality. Next, accept this power... He extends his hand and everything glows, then you wake up in the school hospital.

Conversation with demons

In Persona 1, it's possible to talk to demons during battles instead of just fighting them. Each team member has unique ways of interacting, such as praising, intimidating, joking, singing, or teasing, and each demon reacts differently depending on their personality.

Conversations alter the demon's mood, which can become happy, scared, angry, or interested. Depending on the reaction, it may flee, hand over money, items, information, or grant Spell Cards.

Spell Cards are one of the most important resources in the game, as they are used in the Velvet Room to create new Personas. The more different demons the player convinces, the greater the variety of Personas available.

This negotiation system is one of the most striking elements of Persona 1 and the Shin Megami Tensei series, rewarding those who understand the behavior of each demon instead of relying solely on combat.
