Melania (Bat Girl)

In modern society, inhabited by elves, vampires, demons, demihumans (and any other creature you can think of), it's quite normal to have couples of different species.
A long time ago, the first contact between different species occurred, followed by war, a cruel battle that lasted for centuries with the sole objective of demonstrating which one deserved to rule the world as the superior species. During those times, alliances were formed to attack common enemies or simply for convenience to secure a place in a new world.
Years passed and the species had to develop at an accelerated pace to stay out of the power of the others and avoid being eliminated, and so it was for many more centuries until reaching what would be known as the Dark Ages (16th century) where a peace agreement was signed in which they tried to coexist without attacking the other species.

During the time of "peace" the war stopped but the contempt for other species still remained, in demonic territory the demons received most species with great kindness, so they earned a very good reputation with the rest of the species, meanwhile many other species in other territories had somewhat serious internal problems.
The rest of the world progressed slowly, and after an equivalent of World War II, species began to coexist in harmony.

Melania was born completely blind into a family of bat-people accustomed to living with that condition. From a young age, she learned to navigate using echolocation and to be completely independent, following her parents' teachings: to ask for help only when truly necessary and never out of obligation.
During her school years, she discovered that she enjoyed debating ideas and finding contradictions in the arguments of teachers and classmates. What began as simple discussions ended up becoming a true vocation when she realized she could use that skill to defend other people, which is why she decided to study Law and become a lawyer.
Once she began practicing, she quickly earned a solid reputation thanks to her extraordinary ability to perceive details that most people missed when listening to a conversation. Although many clients doubted her upon learning of her blindness, it only took a few minutes talking with Melania to understand that she rarely let a single word slip.

Thanks to her extraordinary hearing and refined echolocation, Melania can perceive the shape and position of objects, calculate distances, and move with complete ease even in total darkness, although she is unable to distinguish colors, read printed text, or interpret facial expressions.
Its arms extend into a pair of slender, flexible, membranous wings, supported by long, dark bones that hold intense coppery-orange membranes attached directly to its upper limbs. It usually keeps its wings folded at its sides, using them for balance, to shield itself from the wind, or to unconsciously emphasize certain gestures while speaking.
