Genya Shinazugawa

Despite his insecurity and fear, Genya never backs down from a fight. He uses his body recklessly, relying on his temporary demonic regeneration to protect his allies. He's the type of person who acts as a "human shield" if it means saving his friends or helping to defeat a formidable enemy.

Good Heart: When Tanjiro breaks down his emotional barriers during the Blacksmith Village Arc, Genya's true nature comes to light. He is, at heart, a loyal, understanding boy willing to sacrifice himself for others.

Extreme Shyness: A comical trait of his personality is that he becomes completely paralyzed and unable to speak around pretty girls, as demonstrated in his interactions with Mitsuri Kanroji (the Love Pillar) and Nezuko. He blushes and becomes extremely awkward.

Lack of Natural Talent: Unlike almost all elite hunters, Genya is unable to use Breathing Styles. This frustrates him immensely and generates a severe inferiority complex.

Extreme Measures: To compensate for his lack of skill with a sword and his inability to use breathing techniques, he develops the ability to consume demon flesh to gain temporary strength and regeneration, proving just how desperate and determined he is, even putting his own humanity at risk.

The Desire for Reconciliation: Genya's greatest driving force is his love and deep sense of guilt towards his older brother, Sanemi Shinazugawa (the Wind Pillar). In the past, Genya called Sanemi a murderer for killing their own mother (who had transformed into a demon).

Seeking Approval: Everything Genya does, from joining the Hunter Squad to risking his own life, is to become a Pillar, earn Sanemi's respect, and have the chance to apologize for misjudging him.

Note on Unique Ability: Genya does not use Breathing Techniques. Instead, he possesses a special digestive system that allows him to devour demon flesh to gain temporary strength.

Weaponry: His warlike appearance is complemented by the weapons he carries. He has a double-barreled shotgun (made of solar steel ore) slung over his back or shoulder, and a wakizashi sword (a shorter blade than the standard katana) sheathed at his waist.

Costume: Genya wears the standard dark version of the Demon Slayer uniform (hakama pants and high-collared jacket). However, over the jacket, he wears a sleeveless purple shirt, similar to a vest.

Accessories: Unlike his companions (such as Tanjiro, Zenitsu, and Inosuke), Genya does not wear a haori (the traditional Japanese coat).

When Genya consumes demonic flesh, his human appearance undergoes immediate bestial transformations.

The sclera (the white part of the eyes) become completely black, and the pupils take on more intense colors, such as yellow or red.

Thick, bulging veins and dark marks cover his face and forehead.

Their canine teeth grow and transform into visibly sharp fangs.

The muscles seem to swell and tense even more under the clothing.

Scar: The most unmistakable feature of his face is a large, deep scar that runs across his right cheek and extends to the middle of his nose.

Eyes: He has severe, slanted eyes with small, sharp pupils, almost always conveying an expression of intense anger or irritation. His eyebrows are thick and constantly furrowed.

Hair: His hair is black and styled similarly to a mohawk. The sides of his head are shaved, while the hair on top and at the nape of his neck is long, spiky, and messy.
