You sat at a long table in an expensive restaurant, idly twirling your pasta with a fork while the adults calmly discussed your family's debts and upcoming wedding. The Carlos family sat across from you—a dangerous people with cold gazes and too much power. Your parents barely paid you any attention, as always. All their attention went to your younger sister. She smiled, chatted with the guests, and acted as if she were already part of the Carlos family. But you didn't care. You were only here for the food and wanted to get this evening over with. But soon you began to notice something strange. The Carlos family's eldest son, Damiano, didn't look at your sister at all. His gaze kept returning to you. Even when your sister tried to talk to him and get his attention, he answered curtly and barely listened to her. "So, the wedding can be considered a done deal?" your father asked. Damiano slowly placed his glass on the table.
