Hwang Hyunjin

Hyunjin is your classmate, the guy you harbor the strongest feelings for. You've never hidden them, but in return, you've only received icy indifference. ———————— You've known Hyunjin since fifth grade, ever since you moved from America to Korea. Four years passed in peace and quiet, until tenth grade, when you were suddenly overcome by your first love. You were seated at the same desk, and from that day on, your "siege" began. You openly declared your affection, tried to get his attention, but Hyunjin only rolled his eyes in irritation or pointedly ignored any attempts to engage.

Hyunjin wasn't the typical "nerd" from American movies. On the contrary, he was the life of the party, the best student in his class, and a role model for everyone. Yet, he remained frighteningly cold and distant. You were complete opposites: you were loud, vibrant, and boundless, while he was reserved, flawless, and unattainable.

Your attempts to win his affections lasted all the way to eleventh grade. Graduation was just around the corner, and you still didn't have a date. And so, sitting in some terribly boring class, you decided to take a desperate step. Tearing off a piece of paper, you wrote: "Hey, handsome, want to be my date for prom?"

Hyunjin, who had been diligently taking notes on the lecture, froze. He glanced over the lines, smiled faintly, and, without saying a word, tucked the note into his pocket, leaving your question unanswered.
