Rather than relying on dramatic misunderstandings or forced love triangles, the series focuses on gradual emotional development. Alya slowly becomes more honest about her feelings, while Masachika learns to stop hiding his true abilities and emotions. Their relationship grows through mutual respect, trust, shared experiences, and countless small moments rather than sudden confessions or dramatic twists.

The series balances lighthearted romantic comedy with emotional character development. Much of its humor comes from Alya speaking in Russian while Masachika secretly understands every word, but beneath the comedy lies a story about overcoming insecurity, living up to expectations, rebuilding confidence, and learning to express genuine feelings. As both characters mature, they help each other become stronger and more honest versions of themselves, making their slow-burning romance the emotional heart of the series.

The story expands significantly when both characters become involved with the Seirei Academy Student Council. What initially seems like ordinary school politics evolves into an important part of the narrative. Elections, leadership responsibilities, and strategic planning bring together many of the series’ central characters while forcing Alya and Masachika to rely on one another. During these events, Masachika gradually begins using the intelligence he had hidden for years, becoming an invaluable strategist despite his attempts to avoid the spotlight.

Several important supporting characters influence both the romance and the student council storyline. Maria Mikhailovna Kujou, Alya’s older sister, is cheerful, caring, and surprisingly playful despite her gentle image. She often encourages Alya while also teasing both her sister and Masachika. Yuki Suou, Masachika’s younger sister, is one of the academy’s most respected students. Elegant, intelligent, and born into a prestigious family, she is publicly regarded as the school’s “Noble Princess.” Despite this dignified image, she has a mischievous personality and greatly enjoys teasing both Masachika and Alya. Her close companion, Ayano Kimishima, serves as her loyal friend and attendant, remaining calm, polite, and dependable throughout the series.

As the story progresses, the characters’ personal histories and family relationships become increasingly important. Alya struggles with expectations placed upon her because of her talents and mixed heritage. Masachika confronts the emotional burdens that caused him to abandon his former ambitions. Yuki and the other members of the student council also reveal hidden sides of themselves that contrast with the perfect images they project at school.

Alisa Kujou is one of the academy’s most admired students. Half Russian and half Japanese, she is known for her exceptional beauty, intelligence, athletic ability, and excellent grades. Although she usually appears cool, strict, and distant, she secretly develops feelings for the boy who sits beside her, Masachika Kuze. Unable to express her emotions directly, she often whispers affectionate compliments, teasing remarks, and even accidental confessions in Russian, believing that nobody around her understands the language.

Unknown to Alya, Masachika secretly understands Russian perfectly. He learned the language from his grandfather during childhood and comprehends every word she says. Rather than revealing his secret, he chooses to pretend he cannot understand, quietly listening to her hidden feelings while responding only to the things she says in Japanese. This misunderstanding becomes the central gimmick of the series and leads to many humorous and heartfelt moments.

Although Masachika initially appears to be an ordinary, lazy student with average grades and little ambition, he is actually highly intelligent, perceptive, and capable. In middle school he was recognized as exceptionally talented, but because of complicated family circumstances and personal disappointment, he stopped trying to stand out. He deliberately maintains the image of an average student, hiding both his intelligence and his ability to speak Russian.

As Alya spends more time with Masachika, she gradually realizes that beneath his carefree personality lies someone dependable, kind, and emotionally mature. Likewise, Masachika begins to see beyond Alya’s cold exterior, discovering that she is surprisingly shy, hardworking, and easily embarrassed when it comes to romance. Their relationship slowly develops through everyday interactions, school events, and countless moments where Alya unknowingly reveals her true feelings in Russian while Masachika quietly treasures every word.

Ayano Kimishima

Ayano is Masachika's former maid and childhood friend, therefore he trusts her. However he is also somewhat wary of her as a campaign rival since she used to serve him, she can predict what Masachika might do in certain situations. He is often surprised by her suddenly appearing without him noticing her getting close due to how quiet she is.

There have been occasions where he got annoyed with her but they often came about because of Yuki's orders which went against his own interests.

Maria Mikhailovna Kujou

After meeting Maria in the student council, Masachika simply found her a warm and lovely person. Due to Maria claiming that she had a boyfriend, he never saw her in a romantic light.

During the summer holidays, Masachika found out that Maria was in fact the girl she met at the playground all those years ago. She then revealed that her "boyfriend" that she had been telling everybody about was in fact Masachika himself. Masachika on his end also has unresolved feelings due to the way they parted in the past. She then confessed her feelings to him but requested Masachika to respond to Alisa's feeling first without revealing their shared past to her.[23][24] Near the end of the school festival in October, Masachika took advantage of a sudden piano match to play the piano for her. He did it partly to fulfill the promise he made to her years ago but also for him to find closure and say his farewell. However at the end of the contest, Maria gave him a hug and admitted that she was still in love with him before getting interrupted by Alisa.[25]

On the field day, Masachika participated in a scavenger event where he was tasked with bringing someone else's girlfriend to the finish line and he settled on borrowing Maria. However following the event, Maria threw a fit at him upon learning the theme of his hunt as she did not consider herself to be the girlfriend of anyone but him. She then demanded a romantic date from him as an apology. She made her demands in spite of the fact that she asked him to address his feelings for Alisa first, which he had not done so yet.[26]

He told her that he abandoned his sister and that choosing to become Masachika Kuze was a mistake. However Alisa reminded him that they would have never met had he remained as Masachika Suou, yet he just told her that he was grateful to have to met her. Upon hering that, Masachika apologized and stated that meeting Alisa was one the best things to have happened to him. Then together, they went to the Suou houshold to visit Yuki.[21]

By the time Masachika returned to the Suou houshold a second time to bring a counter proposal to Gensei, Masachika was caught off guard when his grandfather suddenly asked if he and Alisa were dating as he began to seriously evaluate her as his future granddaughter-in-law.[22]

However, on the first day of the festival, he upset her because Yuki tagged along at first and he did not pay attention to her, which led to him trying to smooth things over for the rest of the day.[13] On the second day, due to the chaos that erupted at the festival, he failed to even watch her band performance. Though he was not aware of it, her emotions were further thrown into turmoil when she found him performing the piano.[14] Eventually he managed to fulfill his promise by sharing a dance with her in fancy dress borrowed from the craft club. [15][16]

For Alisa, she would finally accept that she had feelings for him at the sports festival in October.[17] She even confessed to him in Russian once, still under the impression that he could not understand her and he did not respond to maintain the facede.[18]

During Alisa's birhday party, he gifted Alisa two gifts, a baumkuchen and a set of gloves that he gave her in private, where he also expressed that he was grateful to have met her.[19] However he left early after hearing Yuki fell ill. Alisa chased after him upon realizing that he left his jacket behind. By the time she caught up, she found up him sitting alone in anguish. She invoked the right for winning the bet against him coming within top 30 before the summer and deamnded the truth. At first he only revealed Yuki's illness but seeing how upset Alisa was, Masachika decided to go against his grandfather's wishes and revealed that he was born Masachika Suou and that Yuki is his sister.[20]

Alisa Mikhailovna Kujou

Masachika is very considerate of Alisa, driven by a strong desire to protect her, even though he refuses to believe that what he feels is love. He views Alisa as a dazzling light, someone whose brilliance captivates him and motivates him to support her and her goal of becoming student council president. As he often admires her from afar, Masachika plays along as she teases him in Russian, secretly understanding her while acting like he does not know what she is actually saying.

His possessiveness and jealousy towards Alisa reveal a deeper connection, one that he has not fully acknowledged as love. Despite his constant denials about love, he is willing to do anything to prevent Alisa from experiencing hardship and harsh emotions, going great lengths to stop such scenarios from happening. He is also the first person outside of her family to call her directly by her nickname "Alya".

During the beach trip in the summer break, she kissed him in the cheeks underneath the fireworks. In that moment, Masachika finally realized that Alisa had genuine feelings towards him, even though Alisa had not accepted those feelings at that point.[10] Towards the end of the summer, to help out Hikaru and Takashi with their band's situation, Masachika asked Alisa to become the lead singer for the band.[11] As the band practiced more, Masachika would start to feel jealous for the attention Alisa is giving to his friends, which Alisa noticed. She therefore asked him to spend some time with her during the school festival.[12]

Relationships

Yuki Suou

As the role of an older brother, Masachika deeply cares for Yuki, often indicating his great familial love for her in various incidents. Despite the constant banter and playfighting occurring between one another, Masachika makes sure that Yuki is content with whats revolving around her life. Even though Masachika burdens his past, he never tries to show it around Yuki in order to keep the joyous atmosphere between the two. Yuki is considered Masachika's "otaku buddy", frequently engaging in otaku conversations and mentioning manga-like scenarios similar to real life events happening in their daily lives.

The two ran the middle school student council together as president and vice president. Masachika did so as he felt obliged to help out his sister. She later asked him to join the high school student council and be her running mate again for the following election but he turned down her several times.

Unbeknownst to him at the time, the price of his freedom from the Suou family was for Yuki to take his place as heir of the family. And ever since their reunion at Seirei, he has been feeling guilty that he left Yuki behind.[4] Things came to a head at Alisa's birthday party when Ayano privately informed him that Yuki had fallen ill and asked him to visit her.[5] After some deliberation, he finally returned to the Suou household.[6]

After witnessing Yuki's suffering as well clearing up the misunderstanding with his mother, Masachika decided not to run away from the responsibility and requested his grandfather to reinstate him as heir. However he did so without consulting Yuki and she was outraged upon hearing what he did because he did so without considering how much effort she had put in.[7]

Background

When he was under the care of his grandfather back in elementary school, he was able to understand Russian due to his grandfather making him watch a lot of Russian movies, about 20 or so. Masachika himself has never been to Russia before, nor does he have any relatives who live there. He also never mentioned his ability to understand Russian at school, so the only person who knows of his skills is his little sister Yuki in the neighbouring class.

Masachika was once a part of the Suou household, however, when his father and mother divorced he chose to leave with his father, Kyoutarou Kuze, instead of staying with his sister Yuki. As a result, the head of the Suou family, Gensei, removed him and Kyoutarou from the family name and forbade Masachika and Yuki to let anyone know that Yuki is his biological sister.

While he may appear like a nobody on the surface, he has a heavy past and many unresolved issues. He hides his lack of self-esteem, which is often the reason why he is unable to respond to other people's feelings or his own. Many of the things he was taught and raised to assist him in life but also in becoming the next head of the Suou household; striving for his academics, the creative arts and such, were nothing but to earn him the praise he wanted to hear so badly, but in the end, ended up losing more, resulting in a guilty and heavy mind.

Since childhood, anticipating a future as a diplomat, Masachika had been thoroughly trained in communication skills, including practical experience. From that experience, he knew the importance of attempting communication and that most people, if spoken to, could be understood. Whether it was a dignified politician, a charismatic corporate executive, or an overwhelmingly popular super-rich person, Masachika had the confidence to speak and establish a certain level of camaraderie. However, just because he could do it didn’t mean he wanted to. Whether he wanted to talk or not was a separate issue.

Despite having the ability to speak with a friendly demeanor and in general execellent communication skills, Masachika didn’t particularly enjoy actively deepening friendships. In short, he wasn’t the type to actively seek closer ties. This meant that, despite his extensive amount of acquaintances and broad network within school, Masachika only had few close friends, indicating that he wasn’t the type to eagerly foster relationships. In other words, he wasn’t inclined to make friends with people he didn’t know, and he preferred not to approach individuals who exuded intimidating auras.

He's an unmotivated, sloven student with a hobby of being an otaku, staying up late most nights. His grades are in the bottom half of the class, but only so because he isn't bothered to study or feels incentivized to get good marks. In other words, he tries to stay out of the spotlight, not wanting to carry the weight of everyone's dependence on him. One of his many secrets is that he understands Russian at a native level, and thus can fully understand what the Kujou sisters say. He is carefree, all jokes, and messes around. Despite his easygoing demeanor on the outside, he lacks the self-esteem most have, often deprecating himself, sinking into self-hatred and self-doubting at times. He hides his more vulnerable and depressing side from everyone, only ever showing it at rare times and only to a few.

Despite his outside appearance of nothing note-worthy, Masachika is in fact quite intelligent, reliable and quick-witted, but generally tries to stay away from the spotlight, preferring to work in the shadows. Masachika is considered to be a genius by his sister Yuki Suou as she stated she never won when against her brother, while his maternal grandfather Gensei Suou sees him as a threat due to their mutual animosity. Masachika is also excellent at communicating with others, either smoothly talking his way or provoking and getting his desired reaction out of people. He's attentive to his surroundings and is deeply thoughtful of the people around him, compassionate and kind to the people he cares about, even getting hostile or putting himself in danger for their sake.

Though he acts mostly nonchalant and cool, he can be consumed with overwhelming emotions, and just like Alisa, he can feel jealousy and possessiveness over the other.

Masachika’s skin is fair and healthy, with a natural complexion that complements his understated appearance. While not particularly pale or tanned, his clear complexion contributes to his youthful look without drawing unnecessary attention.

His physique is lean and well-proportioned, reflecting the build of an average teenage boy. He has moderately broad shoulders, a slim waist, and long limbs, giving him a balanced silhouette. Although he does not appear particularly athletic, he is healthier and more capable than his relaxed demeanor suggests. His posture is usually casual, often slouching or standing with little concern for formality, though he naturally straightens into a composed stance when circumstances require it.

Masachika wears the standard Seirei Private Academy boys’ uniform, consisting of a light beige blazer with gold trim over a white dress shirt, paired with a dark tie and black slacks. Unlike many of the academy’s more disciplined students, he typically wears his uniform in a slightly relaxed manner, sometimes leaving it less neatly arranged than expected. His casual way of wearing the uniform reflects his carefree attitude toward school life, though he remains presentable overall. Combined with his ordinary appearance and laid-back posture, his uniform reinforces the image of an average student—an image that cleverly conceals the highly intelligent, perceptive young man beneath the surface.

Masachika Kuze is a handsome yet unassuming teenage boy whose appearance perfectly reflects his relaxed and easygoing personality. Rather than possessing the striking beauty of Alisa Kujou or the refined elegance of Yuki Suou, Masachika has the kind of approachable, “boy-next-door” charm that allows him to blend naturally into his surroundings. At first glance, he appears to be nothing more than an ordinary high school student, though his calm confidence and perceptive eyes hint at a far more capable individual beneath his laid-back exterior.

His face is youthful and well-balanced, with soft, masculine features that give him a friendly and approachable appearance. He has a gently defined jawline, a straight nose, and naturally thin lips that are often curved into a faint, amused smile or a mildly indifferent expression. Rather than being carefully styled, it falls casually around his forehead with uneven bangs and loose strands, reinforcing his habit of paying little attention to his appearance. Despite its unkempt look, his hair suits him well and contributes to his effortless charm.

His eyes are medium-sized and slightly narrow, typically depicted as dark brown. They often appear half-lidded, giving him his signature relaxed or somewhat lazy expression. However, beneath that calm gaze lies exceptional attentiveness and emotional awareness. His eyes become noticeably sharper whenever he is analyzing a situation or observing the people around him, reflecting the intelligence he usually keeps hidden from others.

Yuki Suou

Yuki is Ayano's master, and Ayano serves her diligently even when she gives orders that would be considered social taboos. At school, Ayano is also Yuki's running mate for the student council election. She lets Yuki hug her and relieve herself using her breasts whenever Yuki is depressed or sad.

Masachika Kuze

Masachika is Ayano's former master as well as his childhood friend. However Ayano still calls him master whenever possible and accepts his orders except when Yuki gives an explicit order against his or his order goes against Yuki's interest.

Alisa Mikhailovna Kujou

Alisa and Ayano are fellow student council members but they do not often interact with each other outside of their student council duties. The other instances where they interacted usually involves Msachika, Yuki or both, namely when they both try to take care Masachika when he fell ill[9] and during Alisa's visit to the Suou mansion [10]. Notably they also ran into each other when they try to raise their spice tolerance. [11]

When Ayano first found out that Masachika chose Alisa as his running mate in the upcoming elections, she was somewhat suspicious of Alisa. She even went directly to Masachika to question him about that matter but she softened once he made clear that he had ulterior motive.[12]

Her grandparents also worked for the Suou family, such as when her grandfather was a secretary to Gensei Suou, and her grandmother was a housekeeper. Ultimately, her high regard for her grandparents led to her choosing to work for the household as well, alongside deeming the once-heir and now current-heir worthy of serving, starting as early around second grade. Since childhood, she grew up with the Suou family household, alongside Yuki and Masachika, whom she serves as a retainer, maid, and friend. Her ability to not make a sound was thanks to her grandparents teaching her.

At first glance, she comes across as robotic in bodily movements, monotone in her manner of speech, formal in character, and with very little to no expression on her face, the latter being more of an acquired trait. As described by others, she barely makes any noise within her actions, and her presence generally goes unnoticed. Generally, she prefers to stay quiet. Above all else, she values her connection with Yuki. She remains loyal to her no matter what, even when she faces people she cares about. She is also hardly an initiator of conversations unless it's one of those moments she is filled with emotions.

Truthfully, she processes emotions just like any other person would, but she has mostly kept it hidden. She deeply cares for people and, most often, doesn't process the will to criticize or attack others. As others put it, she is a sweet and kind girl. Her excessive admiration for her ‘masters’ -Yuki and Masachika- mixed into her sexual preferences, developing rather unique desires and joy out of it, with jokes making her out to be a masochist.

However her loyalty towards them also makes her easy to manipulate, something both Sayaka and Nonoa have exploited, the former having successfully gaining more information about the siblings[7] while the latter was able to isolate Masachika indirectly through her.[8]

Her eyes are large and almond-shaped. Officially they are dark brown, though in the anime and light novel illustrations they are often depicted with a rich violet hue that gives them a more striking appearance. Long eyelashes and gently curved eyebrows accentuate her eyes, while her calm, attentive gaze conveys intelligence, kindness, and quiet determination. Her expression rarely appears overly emotional, instead maintaining a composed warmth that makes her easy to approach.

Ayano’s skin is fair, smooth, and healthy, with a soft natural complexion. While not as porcelain-like as Alisa’s, her skin has a clear, youthful glow that complements her dark hair and eyes beautifully. Her complexion contributes to her overall image of refined elegance and understated charm.

Her physique is petite, slim, and naturally feminine. She has a slender waist, gently rounded hips, and modest, well-proportioned curves that suit her youthful frame. Rather than drawing attention through dramatic proportions, her figure is defined by balance and graceful proportions. Her long legs and upright posture further enhance her elegant silhouette, allowing her movements to appear poised and effortless.

Ayano wears the standard Seirei Private Academy girls’ uniform, consisting of a light beige blazer with gold trim over a fitted black dress-style uniform with a pleated skirt that falls above the knees. As a first-year student, she wears the academy’s distinctive red ribbon neatly tied at the collar. She completes the uniform with black knee-high socks and dark brown loafers, maintaining a clean and polished appearance at all times. Combined with her composed demeanor and natural beauty, the uniform reinforces the refined image that has made her one of the academy’s most admired students, even among classmates known for their exceptional appearances.

It is usually gathered into a neat low ponytail that allows the length of her hair to flow gracefully down her back, while a few loose strands frame her face. The ponytail emphasizes her elegant posture and gives her appearance a tidy, refined quality. She occasionally wears simple white hair clips that add a modest decorative touch without distracting from her naturally graceful look.

On Sora's Team

Yuki joins Sora's team with his friend and older brother, especially when her gets beaten up with Kuze from Hajime Nagumo as Kuze's younger sister due to actions of her, and Kuze especially when he tries to make Kuze become a pervert towards to Masha, and Alya when under Kuze's hypnosis, makes Nagumo beat her up. after Kuze get beat then her just like Mitsuki Amanogawa as a younger sister was a bad influence on Kuze, and Kouki especially since Kuze was just as bad as Kouki Amanogawa, what's more, if Kuze was Kouki, Nagumo wouldn't hesitate to kill Kuze if it was intentional, no matter what Kuze had to die several times because of his own actions, which made Yue, Tio, Shea, Remia , and Myu confirmed that especially Nagumo's classmates such as Ryutarou, Shizuku, Kaori, Kousuke, Akito, Kentarou Nomura, Tamai, Sonobe, Nana Miyazaki, Taeko including Kouki confirmed from Nagumo word about Kuze same just like Kouki especially Kouki was surprised that Nagumo saw Kuze like him, making Kouki let Nagumo get angry instead of being a target Nagumo gets angry again for trying he defends Kuze, especially since Kuze is Kouki's bad side from Shizuku Yaegashi's words make Ryutarou Sakagami confirm Shizuku's words.

Masachika Kuze: Similar to Masachika's perspective on Yuki, she also truly cares about her big brother. Yuki usually goes into "little sister mode" whenever she is around Masachika in places where they won't be recognized. This little sister mode is one of Yuki's personalities that would be filled with enthusiasm and inanity, showcasing no remorse for any consequences of her actions and would frequently tell Masachika about her explicit and intrusive thoughts. Although it may seem like Yuki is careless near Masachika, deep down, she always makes sure that Masachika doesn't spiral into a void of happiness and endless depression, which is why this "little sister mode" is mostly activated around Masachika. She also considers and respects Masachika's personal life, making sure that Masachika gets his proper studies by leaving him alone in his room whenever this is the case. Yuki also has complex emotions and burdens, a past similar to Masachika, but both would never try to show this side of her near Masachika to make sure he won't be reminded of his past as well. Alisa Mikhailovna Kujou: Alisa is a fellow member of the student council and Yuki's main opponent for the upcoming student council president election and as a result, they are both friends and rival. Whenever it involves the election, they would give it their all to come out on top. Yuki has also caught on to Alisa's feeling towards her brother and toyed with it by pretending to be a love rival but ultimately she wants them to end up together. As such, she has set up multiple opportunities for them to become closer, such as letting Alisa take care of him while he was sick and locking them in a room . On one occasion, Yuki even tells Alisa that she would like Masachika without mentioning his name.

Due to her exceptional social skills and sophisticated behaviour, she was known as the Noble Princess, while Alisa was referred to as the Solitary Princess by the other students. These nicknames were given based on their beauty. At school, she is seen as Masachika's childhood friend. Still, in reality, she is Masachika's blood-related, otaku younger sister, who went to live with their mother after their parents' divorce, while Masachika went to live with their father.

She acts like a genuine young lady around everyone as she comes from a former noble family but inside she is a playful otaku who loves to watch anime and read light novels.She is shown to carry herself with elegance and graceful conduct to maintain the reputation of the Suou family but her playful personality often comes out in the series.

She deeply cares for Masachika and is seen enjoying her time at his house occasionally. She has a room for herself and stores all her otaku materials there because she can't do so in her house.She has affected Masachika in various ways over time as he became an otaku after reading Yuki's otaku stuff.She also kept books about S&M play in her father's room with his permission.

She is also shown to be responsible when it comes to her work.She was the student council president in middle school and was known for her excellent work.She was also very good at academics, indicating that she did everything with responsibility.She was also persistent in getting Masachika into the student council and so has plotted many things.She would keep asking him to join the council despite his multiple rejections.

When Masachika joined the student council to support Alisa she wasn't angry at him and was instead relieved to find that he had found someone to motivate him.She is competitive as she steeled her resolve to not lose to Alisa in the coming elections.

To add to her playful personality, she has done many things that she found interesting in the 2D world.She once caught his leg from under the bed and one time she intentionally came out naked from bathroom

Maria shows a lot of affection for her sister. She likes to cling on Alya and often uses her as a pillow to much her younger sibling's annoyance.[5] On a another note, she demonstrates a lot of of care for Alisa, to the point where she would step aside so that Alisa can get together with Masachika as seen during a reunion in the park between Kuze and Masha. [6]

Masachika Kuze

As soon as Masachika joined the student council, Maria had a suspicion that he is the boy she met at the playground years ago, whom she nicknamed "Sah". However he has a different surname and he did not respond when she spoke Russian and so she did not think much about it until the summer when the student council went to the beach together. She noticed Masachika has a bite mark and she realized that her suspicions were correct all along.

Maria and Alisa were born in Russia, and their first language was Russian. Maria stayed in Russia until Alisa was five, then moved to Japan until Alisa’s fourth year of elementary school (fourth grade), and moved back to Russia to finish elementary school. Maria moved back to Japan when she was fifteen and Alisa was fourteen, for her last year of junior high school. Though it it unknown what part of Russia the Kujou sisters were born in, Maria spent part of her life in Vladivostok.

Maria was shown to have a good relationship with her family and was exceedingly close to her younger sister despite the latter’s cold treatment of her. She was extremely supportive of Alisa’s dream to study at Seiren Academy and aim for top grades, praising her sister’s hard work and determination and sleeping beside her when she stayed up late studying.

She was Masachika's childhood friend before Masachika changed his surname from "Suou" to "Kuze". However, before long, Maria and her family had to return to Russia, coming back to Japan years later. Unexpectedly, the two reunited, and while Maria would soon piece together that Masachika was the boy long ago, it would take time for them to confront each other's true identities and time to rekindle their once-lost companionship.

Maria is a sweet young lady with a soft atmosphere around her constantly.She always has her fluff, mature smile, which is enough to lower one's guard and seems to be someone who cares about everyone around her, and is generally understanding and caring toward others.Despite her very soft and kind aura, her actions and thoughts can be described as rather clumsy or airheaded-like in front of others, as some pointed out.She believes that living life too seriously is burdensome and tries to take it easy.Still, she has shown moments of thoughtfulness and can make some reflective comments.

She is Alisa's older sister and adores teasing her, which shows how close they really are.Throughout the series, it is made clear how much she cares for her, so much that she wants Alisa to call her "Onee-san" in Japan, which Alisa refuses.She feels happy for Alisa in terms of the latter's potential relationship with Kuze, gives encouraging words to both parties. Her affection toward Alisa is one of her reasons for acting air-headed, in order to make Alisa feels better by avoiding possible competition with the latter.Unlike her sister, Maria is often quite difficult to read.During the series, It is shown that It is more challenging to notice what Maria is thinking while also doing the strangest things from time to time.She has a boyfriend whom she calls out occasionally, and when he is not present, she talks to an image of him she has in her locket which turns her into "maiden-in-love-mode".

When it comes to school, she is a model student.She honors and fulfills the role of an ideal student council secretary and is also talented in various other fields too At first, Kuze thought she got into the council due to her popularity, but he was soon proven wrong.

She loves cute things and always wants to keep them for herself.When she went with Kuze to get things for the student council room, she started choosing Plushies and other cute things, so Kuze had to prevent her from getting any.

While Maria is somewhat warm towards her sister, Alisa on the other hand seem quite cold towards Maria with Alisa seemingly always respond to Maria in an annoyed tone. During the summer trip to Touya's vacation home, Alisa refused to be Maria's roommate, preferring to stay with Yuki and Ayano instead, claiming that Maria would use her as a body pillow.[30]

Alisa believes that Maria is still in love with a boy that she broke up with, not knowing the truth behind their split nor the fact that the boy's identity is Masachika.[31]

Yuki Suou

Alisa's relationship with Yuki is one where the latter often teases the former. This can be observed when the two went to perform paperwork for the student council and ended up having a short confrontation in an empty classroom. This was due to the fact that Yuki wanted to test Alisa and how much she actually liked Masachika. However, Alisa misunderstood the relationship between Yuki and Masachika, believing that they are in a romantic relationship when they were not. This caused Alisa to feel some jealousy towards Yuki because of her closeness to Masachika.[23]

There is also the other side of their relationship as they are both competing to become the next student council president. While Yuki has mostly refrained from making any direct moves against Alisa due to Masachika being her partner and is wise to her tactics. However Yuki had taken advantage of Masachika's illness by having Alisa appear at her school radio broadcast unprepared.[24]

Despite the rivalry due to the election, the two have become genuine friends. While at Touya's vacation home during the summer, Alisa and Yuki were roommates and the two had a talk about boys. However when Alisa started talking her frustrations about boys, Yuki quickly deduced that she was talking about her brother.[25] Since then Yuki has made conscious efforts to set up opportunities for him to get closer with Alisa such as instructing him on what sorts of gifts he should prepare for her birthday.[26]

This realization bought her joy and she even confessed her feelings to him in Russian at one point. Yet at the same time, she felt insecure because she believed that Masachika was in love with someone else due to his previous piano performance. She came to believe it was Yuki because of the way he was staring at her. [18] However this would change on her 16th birthday when she came to check on him after he left the party early. At long last, she called on the bet she won before the summer break and demanded the truth from him. At first, Masachika only said that Yuki had fallen ill and he was worried. However, sensing Alisa becoming upset upon hearing the news and seeing no other options, he broke the promise he made to his grandfather and confessed the truth that Yuki was his younger sister. [19]

Upon hearing his story, she urged him to return the Suou family to confront his regrets. She even abandoned her own birthday party to go with him.[20] Later, she learned from Masachika about his wishes to be reinstated as Suou heir. However his grandfather's terms was that he beat Yuki in the upcoming election to become student council president, which went against Alisa's aim to become president herself.[21] She considered ceding that position to him but eventually decided against it. Thus Masachika also decided to see his grandfather again, with Alisa in tow, to make a counter proposal.

During the summer break, Alisa often visited Masachika's place to work on their summer homework and prepare for the election, with one occasion turning into a date. [10] When they headed to Touya's vacation home, Alisa kept finding herself in embarrassing situations with Masachika. [11] With the group, they have a go at the King's game where everyone draw a piece of paper and the designated winner gets to order others to do things but then the game ended just as Yuki made an order for Masachika to kiss Alisa. [12] Masachika tried to make up for the embarrassing incident by showing Alisa a good time when they headed to the local festival. While she had forgiven him already, she brought up the order Yuki issued and so under the fireworks, Alisa kissed Masachika on the cheek. She then taunts him and ask where he would kiss her, and he did it by kissing her hair. Masachika had been trying to deny it thus far but this latest act left him in with no doubt about her feelings towards him. [13]

During the school festival in early October, Alisa had a minor heartbreak when she rushed to see Masachika perform at the piano duel, she knew he was dedicating the piece he was performing to someone. Since he knew she needed to perform with the band outdoors, it could not be for her and concluded he was in love with someone.[14] However he then cheered her up by inviting her to the craft club and shared a dance in elegant clothes[15][16] Later that month, at the school field day, after losing the run to Yuki's team, Masachika came to cheer her up and this act finally made Alisa admit to herself that she was in love with Masachika.[17]

Masachika Kuze The only student to show no interest in Alisa, which left a lasting impression on her. However, when she started paying attention to Masachika, Alisa noticed immediately that it was not that Masachika wasn't interested in girls or other people, it was just that he was a guy with no motivation for anything and thus Alisa lost interest in this neighbor. However that all changed during the school festival in the final year of middle school, where he helped Alisa when it mattered the most. Since then, Alisa starts flirting with him in Russian and fell in love with him without consciously knowing it. This is also the point where Masachika starts calling her by her nickname "Alya". During the first year of high school, after Masachika turned down Yuki's request to run as her partner again for the high school student council, he would volunteer to be Alisa's partner after witnessing her struggles but also her drive to move forward despite the fact that she never asked him in the first place. [7] Just before the summer break, Masachika made a bet with Alisa that he would come among the top thirty in the exams where she would grant him one wish if he succeeded and he in return would grant her a wish if he failed. [8] However he ultimately failed in his endeavor but Alisa decided to call on it at a later time. [9]

In her third year of junior high school, Alisa returned to Japan because of her father's work. On her parents' recommendation, she transferred to Seirei Educational Institute, a prestigious school considered to be one of the best in Japan. If it is here, perhaps there could be someone who could compete shoulder-to-shoulder with her and, at the same time, someone who could accompany her in her devotion to study. This let her have faint expectations. However, Alisa's faint expectations were cruelly crushed when she took a proficiency test right after transferring, scoring first place in her school year even after being away from Japan for 5 years. A transfer student doesn't know the test trends; even with this disadvantage, she achieved first place in her school year. This instantly made Alisa popular among the students, who started flocking to her as if she were a celebrity. Alisa's immense beauty also contributed to her popularity. Despite grabbing the attention of almost everyone around her, she would be stunned to find a certain boy who is not interested in her.

She comes from a well-off family. Through this privilege and a nurturing environment, she excelled and developed many talents. However, despite being handed these things in life, she is determined not to let that define her but rather to be defined by always striving for the top no matter what, by always putting in more effort than others. She has the talent and a competitive spirit that sets her apart from others.

She always ranks first in class tests, is good at sports and has the role of the student council treasurer since her first year at the school. She is an honor student with excellent grades and good conduct and doesn't particularly care about others, for better or worse. However, it is already a well-known fact in her school year that she is exceptionally hard on her neighbor in class, who is a clear representation of the school’s unseriousness. Alisa understands that beauty is one of the weapons in interpersonal relationships, and of course, she also tries to improve herself in that regard.
