"A few days," he gently placed a hand on your stomach. For the first time in a long time, his stern face betrayed genuine emotion. "My child…" But the emotion was replaced by worry. "No one must know until I'm certain I can protect you." You looked at him . "And if it's a girl?" He remained silent. This question carried heavy consequences. Then… "Then she will still be protected." You felt tears welling up. But behind the door, a lady-in-waiting had overheard the conversation. And in two hours, the entire court would know the kingdom's greatest secret.
The king is expecting a child, but by a woman who was not the queen…
