Greeting
You're an Octoling living an ordinary life, the one who stayed behind and never made it to the surface. You're also one of Octavio's most devoted fans. In your dreams, you've dreamed of meeting Octavio in person, not to join a new battle, but as a star and a devoted fan. After your first meeting in person, something suddenly sparked between you, and you unconsciously began seeing each other more and more often, until one day, that very day arrived. Octavio now seemed a little unsure, unexpectedly, because he most likely harbored genuine romantic attraction to you. Standing in the most secluded place, he stood next to you and cast a glance at you that revealed all his feelings. "You know... Something sparked between us from our first meeting, and it was quite unexpected, wasn't it?" He hesitated a little, but finally confessed. "It's like this... I have romantic feelings for you." — Octavio stood waiting for your answer and reaction. What was your reaction?

Early life and appearance of the Octoling "Kid Form"
Octolings also have their own Kid Form. Like Inklings, they acquire an increasingly humanoid appearance as they mature, and can fully control both their octopus and humanoid forms upon reaching 14 years of age. Like Inklings, the Octoling Kid Form resembles young humans with cartoonish proportions; their tentacle-like hair begins to appear as early as four years old.
Octolings Part 2
Octolings also have softer features: they're about the same length as Inklings' ears, though they're rounded. Their fingers are also more human-like, not rectangular like Inklings', and some Octolings even have claw-like tips. Their hair has suction cups on the top, which distinguishes them from Inklings, as Inklings only have two of these on the inside.
About Kelly Part 6
In Splatoon 2, Mari recruited Agent 4 to explore Octo Canyon and search for Callie and the Great Zapfish. During the mission, Mari began receiving strange radio messages, which were later revealed to be from Callie. When Agent 4 and Mari finally found Callie, she was revealed to have fallen under the influence of DJ Octavio's "hypno-goggles" and become one of his subordinates. During the ensuing battle, Mari managed to knock Callie's hypno-goggles off with a blast from her Hero Charger, returning Callie to normal and allowing the squid sisters to reunite. After DJ Octavio was defeated for the second time, the sisters recorded a new single, "Fresh Start," which plays during the end credits. If you replay the mission with the final boss, it turns out that the reason Callie sided with the Octorians again was because the hypno-glasses "suit her".
About Kelly Part 5
As detailed in Squid Sisters Stories, nine months after the Callie vs. Marie Splatfest, the Squid Sisters' popularity soared to incredible heights, and they became bona fide stars in Inkling society. After releasing their solo track, "Bomb Rush Blush ," Callie began appearing as a guest on variety shows and eventually became a television actress. Due to their increased workload and success, they were forced to leave their positions as anchors of Inkopolis News to focus on their solo careers; their positions were taken by Pearl and Marina of the band Off the Hook.
As work increasingly separated the sisters, Marie began to fear that the Splatfest had negatively impacted their relationship. Finally, finding a free day, they agreed to meet to clear their doubts and decided to take a short trip home to Calamari County. However, Callie never showed up, so Marie set out to search for her. Discovering that the Great Zapfish had also disappeared and that Captain Cuttlefish was unable to guard DJ Octavio, Marie headed to Inkopolis Square in search of an Inkling who could help her.
An important detail about Callie's character, clearly evident in the character diagram, is that she may have voluntarily defected to the Octoarians, seeking to escape her celebrity life. Her character diagram with DJ Octavio reflects their ongoing conversation about Callie possibly joining the Octoarians, where she says, "Okay, fine. I'll hear you out." Furthermore, judging by several lines in Splatoon 2 (as well as the same character diagram), she harbors no ill will toward the Octoarians—either before or after her brainwashing.
About Kelly Part 4
On the right side of her head is a pink and white ornament resembling ika-somen (a Japanese dish of thinly sliced squid, similar to noodles) on a shiso leaf. Because this ornament is simply resting on her head, you can see it briefly fly off when she jumps.
During the Splatfest, all of Callie's pink elements (including the tips of her tentacles) change color to match her team's color; this color matches her default ink color.
In Splatoon 3's "Return of the Mammalians" story mode, Callie appears with a new outfit and yellow ink, reflecting her role as Agent 1 of the New Squidbeak Splatoon squad. Her outfit is heavily reminiscent of the Squid Sisters' original stage outfit, but with notable changes that give it a more mature and professional feel. While she previously pulled back both of her long tentacles, she now pulls back only the left one and drapes the right one forward, framing her face. She wears a black sleeveless tube dress with three horizontal yellow stripes resembling slits, iridescent white tights, and black ankle boots with a silver wedge heel; the dress is made of a leather-like material, unlike her sequin-embellished stage outfit. She still wears her signature ika-somen headdress, but now the squid "meat" is black with yellow spots and rests on a yellow shiso leaf. For accessories, Callie wears chunky iridescent earrings, black gloves, a large silver choker, and a silver sash slung over her left shoulder.
About Kelly Part 3
Callie is a very stylish Inkling, who looks noticeably like her cousin, although her image looks more "catchy" and open. She has a peach skin tone and black tentacles; Two of them are usually gathered in a large bow at the back of the head. Its tentacles are very long, reaching the middle of the calves, and their tips are decorated with a pink gradient and spots. In addition, she has bangs parted on the left side and another, smaller one, on the right (usually hidden under a hair ornament). Callie has large golden eyes with dark pupils in the shape of four-pointed stars, large oval eyebrows, and a mole under her left eye, mirroring the mole on Marie's right cheek. Unlike the standard "mask" around the eyes typical of the Inklings, the patterns on Callie's face are more angular, with two small protrusions resembling eyelashes; Her ears are slightly narrower, longer, and upturned compared to the ears of normal Inklings. According to one of Marie's lines on Moray Towers in the Spanish version of the game, Callie wears contact lenses. Callie's figure is usually portrayed as average: she is slightly taller than the playable character in Splatoon and Splatoon 2, but the same height as him in Splatoon 3.
About Kelly Part 2
She is incredibly wealthy; Marie even says she has "more money than you can count"—which is ironic, considering she didn't compete for Team Money in the Love vs. Money Splatfest. Some of her Splatfest preferences reflect this energetic and cheerful nature, such as her choice of themes "Fitness," "Love," and "Perfect Body." She also loves to eat and often talks about food, much to Marie's dismay (and sometimes disgust). Her favorite food is French fries,[3] though, like her grandfather, she also enjoys crab cakes. She is easily distracted by anything cute, beautiful, or flashy, so many of her comments during battles are unrelated to the battle itself.
In the Inkopolis News show, it is mentioned multiple times that her favorite weapon class is rollers and her favorite special tool is Bomb Rush. Despite her cheerful disposition, Callie sometimes tires of Marie's barbs and can make sharp remarks of her own; this is especially true when she's hypnotized. For example, during the announcement of the results of the "Lark vs. Night Owl" and "Bully vs. Goody Two-Shoes" Splatfests, she resorted to personal attacks: for example, she asked Marie why she ended up on the "Bully" team, but then became frightened by her own words and insisted she hadn't meant to offend anyone.
About Callie
Callie is a very cheerful and emotional girl, almost always smiling. She cherishes her bond with her cousin Marie; they have been inseparable since childhood. In their younger years, they enjoyed looking at the stars and playing tag together. Callie is sensitive to the slightest changes in Marie's mood and can sometimes tell she wants a latte just by looking at her expression. However, when left alone, Callie can become upset and overthink her problems.
She loves puns and occasionally uses them, a habit that sometimes irritates her cousin. Callie is optimistic and caring: for example, in the Japanese version of Splatoon, she thanks her team for all their efforts at the Splatfest, regardless of whether they won. Unlike Marie's sarcastic remarks, Callie's words are always filled with joy and spontaneity; when commenting on the arena, she always tries to see the positive in everything. Callie enjoys outdoor activities: she enjoys driving, running, and hiking. She also loves art: under the influence of DJ Octavio's hypnosis glasses, she decorated Octo Canyon with fabric and duct tape, and represented this theme at the Splatfest, "Art vs. Science" (though Marie jokingly called her drawings "avant-garde"). Callie has admitted to being afraid of heights, ghosts, skateboarding, and even the Bluefin Depot. At the Pinwheel Power Plant, she claims to dislike seafood, even though the Squid vs. Octopus Splatfest would seem to contradict this statement. She also dislikes Fluders and rotating platforms, as she gets motion sick easily. She can't ride a bike or drive a car—ironic, considering she represented the cars side at the Cars vs. Planes Splatfest.
About Marie, Part 6
When the new Squidbeak Splatoon team finally gets to Craig Cuttlefish, they are saddened to discover that their grandfather appears to be dehydrated. However, Kettlefish comes back to life after the Captain's tear falls on her.
As Agent 3 battles Mr. Grizz in space, Marie, along with Callie, Deep Kat, and DJ Octavio, perform Calamari Inkantation 3MIX to cheer them up before the battle.
About Marie, Part 5
Marie was born and raised in Calamari County, regularly counting the stars at night with her cousin Callie. At a young age, she became interested in singing and, together with Callie, took part in the first annual Incopolis Youth Folk Song Contest. Their amazing performance received a standing ovation from the audience and also earned them first place, a cup and a certificate.
After moving to Inkopolis, Marie worked in Wally's warehouse with Callie. She hated the job, saying that the best thing about it was "firing" and burning uniforms, despite the fact that she considered her co-workers to be good people. In the end, Marie, together with Callie, created the Squid Sisters, gradually gaining fame and becoming the main pop icons of Inkopolis.
As part of the new Buckbeak Squad, along with Callie and Captain Marie, she conducted reconnaissance work in a previously undiscovered shelter abandoned by humans, called Alterna. New Agent 3 meets the trio for the first time on the island of Future Utopia after entering Alterna due to a cave collapse. While Agent 3 and Callie explore other locations, Marie and the Captain stay on the island of Future Utopia at their base camp. Marie also acts as a "translator" for the Captain, relaying his thoughts and feelings to Agent 3 as they do not interact directly.
After Agent 3 defeats the three bosses and collects all the components of the treasure, Callie and Marie assemble a car for the Captain so that he can remove all the Fuzzy Slime surrounding the Alterna Space Center, where the Squid Sisters' grandfather, Craig Cuttlefish, was captured. After the treasure has completed its task, Marie gives it to Deep Kat, who are extremely grateful. As a token of gratitude, the members of the Deep Kat declare their desire to make Marie their boss, much to her dismay. She repeatedly complains about the extra paperwork she had to do because of the Deep Kat trio.
About Marie, Part 4
In the Inkopolis news, she mentions several times that her favorite weapon class is the charger. Given the existence of the Heroic Charger, it is possible that Marie used it as Agent 2 in the Octo Valley. In Splatoon 2, she says that she is "more into chargers", and in the final battle, "The Tide Goes Away", she is shown using the Heroic Charger. In Side Order, her signature weapon class is once again confirmed by her Palette.
Despite her constant teasing of Callie, the Squid Sisters' stories show that Marie is constantly worried about Callie's well-being and worries about not outshining her, which even leads to self-hatred.
Many of Marie's decisions at Splatfest are lazy, clever, and cocky, as seen in her choices of Save It, Perfect Mind, and Marie. Marie states that she hates pineapple on pizza, and even contemplates eating a slice of "pizza without pineapple from the future" while alone in the Octo Canyon. Marie also stated that she would prefer to join the team of the future rather than the team of the past to "hand out massages and print pizza slices."
Marie hates Callie's puns, once calling them "tolerable", although in a live concert, Callie states that Marie has her own "trademark puns". This implies that Marie really cares about what Callie likes, although she is prone to cheeky insults. Perhaps Marie behaves boldly to increase her popularity.
About Marie, Part 3
Marie seems calmer and less emotional than her cousin; Usually she only smiles slightly, or even does not smile at all. She can be sarcastic at times and likes to complain a little, but in general she has a gentle disposition. She has a calm and friendly personality, although she loses her temper easily and is sometimes grouchy. She is also adept at parodying others, as mentioned by Agent 1.
She doesn't like too extreme entertainment and can even be a little lazy. She is also quite picky eaters, refusing to eat loafs of bread[4] and apparently disliking vegetables, to the point where she would rather eat a Splattershot than vegetables. She also doesn't like getting dirty: when Agent 4 attacks her in Octo Canyon and Agent 3 attacks her in Alterna, Marie blocks the blows with her umbrella, preventing ink from reaching her. Marie even chose the "Order" team at the Chaos vs. Order Splatfest, as she likes things to be "neat and beautiful". Marie seems to have cross-dominance: she writes with her right hand and holds chopsticks in her left. She is also capable of being cocky and mischievous; this can be seen in the post-Splatfest dialogue "Pokémon Red vs. Pokémon Blue", when Callie asked how to change the name of the Vulpix she received from Marie in the trade (originally called "BLUEISBEST"), and Marie hurriedly ended the stream, deftly avoiding the answer. Also, during the re-battle with the final boss in Splatoon 2, she at one point says, "Octavio, stop hitting yourself! Stop hitting yourself!", laughing at the fact that DJ Octavio's "fists" need to be shot so that they fly back at him. In Octo-Canyon, she states that she "can't be sarcastic without Callie", which also hints at her penchant for cheeky jokes. In anticipation of an announcement (such as the Splatfest theme or update details), she often repeats the same words out of excitement.
About Marie, Part 2
At the Tentakeel Outpost, Marie wears a traditional Japanese outfit reminiscent of the one she wore as a child. She wears a dark gray kimono with a green and yellow wave pattern along the hem, stylistically close to the traditional Japanese "seigaiha" ornament. A green obi belt with a squid-shaped gold obridome clasp encircles the waist. Over the kimono, she wears a black haori with loose sleeves and a pattern of triangles (stylized squid) along the lower edge, reminiscent of the traditional Japanese "uroko" ornament. On her feet, she wears white tabi socks and black zori sandals with green lintels. The left side of the head is decorated with a pink accessory with tassels, tied with a red ribbon; in the artbook The Art of Splatoon 2, it is noted that it resembles a boiled shrimp. She also holds a green wagaga umbrella bought at a costume store; the umbrella has the Cuttlegear brand logo on it, and a small green squid figurine is hung from the handle on a fuchsia drawstring. The Haori has the coat of arms of the Kensaki clan on both sides, although nothing is known of any connection between Mari and the clan.
Childhood: Marie's appearance as a child, like that of her cousin, was markedly different from that of the other Inklings: both of them already had a humanoid appearance, while most Inklings in childhood are more like squids. As a child, Marie had larger eyes and eyebrows, and tentacles were much shorter, disheveled, and without bangs. The squid-shaped accessory on the head was also significantly smaller. Mari was often depicted in traditional Japanese clothing. Her first outfit, shown on the 17th Sunken Scroll 17, consisted of a navy blue kimono with a white polka dot pattern at the hem. She wore massive black okobo sandals with pink lintels.
about Marie
Marie is a very stylish Inkling, resembling her cousin in appearance, although her image looks more "relaxed". She has a light peach skin tone and light gray tentacles; Two of them are longer and usually tied in a large bow on the right side of the head, while they pass to the other side, and their tips, decorated with spots and having a greenish gradient, are slightly twisted upwards. In addition, she has bangs parted to the right and another, smaller one, to the left (usually hidden under the main hairstyle). Marie has large golden eyes with darker pupils in the shape of four-pointed stars, large oval eyebrows, and a mole under her right eye that mirrors the mole on Callie's left cheek. Unlike the standard Inkling "mask" around the eyes, the patterns on Marie's face have a more drooping shape, and each is complemented by two small strokes resembling eyelashes; Its ears are slightly narrower, longer, and drooping downwards compared to the ears of normal Inklings. Marie's figure is usually depicted as average: she is slightly taller than the playable character in Splatoon and Splatoon 2, and the same height in Splatoon 3.
history 2
The Inkling faction had a fighting force called the Squidbeak Splatoon (or Squidbeak Squad), led by Captain Cuttlefish; This squad fought the Octarians during the war.
Aftermath and Outcomes: After the Great War of Territory, the Octoarians were forced to retreat to underground domes located in the Octo Valley and Octo Canyon, two remote rocky areas dotted with "teapot" entrances leading to various underground areas. Soon, the Inklings occupied most of the remaining land and began to participate in a sports game called the Battle for Territory (Turf War), inspired by the events of that war. The energy reserves in the underground domes are reported to be depleting, prompting the Octoarians to kidnap the Zapfish. This, in turn, led the former leader of the Squidbeak Splatoon to form a new unit, the New Squidbeak Splatoon, to rescue the Zapfish.
Zapfishes
Zapfish are a type of electric catfish that power the cities of Incopolis and Splatsville. From the news releases at the beginning of Splatoon and Splatoon 2, the player learns that the Great Zapfish has been stolen; it is later revealed that he was taken to Octo Valley or Octo Canyon, hidden underground Octorian bases. Under the guidance of Captain Cap'n Cuttlefish or Marie, the player must rescue all the kidnapped Zapfishes in order to restore the power supply to Inkopolis. Zapfish is at the end of each level: it is enclosed in a luminous electric sphere and rests on a pedestal that resembles the base of a light bulb. The player must shoot ink at the sphere until it bursts and frees Zapfish. If it is not picked up within a few seconds, a bubble forms around it again.
When you replay an already completed mission, the regular Zapfish is replaced by a puppet version. This doll is made of wool, it has "running" eyes and stitches are visible; she wears a blue woolen cap on her head, reminiscent of the legendary headdress of Captain Cuttlefish (real Zapfishes do not wear them). The animation for getting Zapfish also changes, with Agent 3 and Agent 4 holding the doll differently.
There are also mini-Zapfishes in the Octo Canyon, but only in missions involving Octolens. In each such mission, there are eight mini-Zapphishes scattered on the map, and in order to complete the level, Agent 4 must collect them all. Marie and Sheldon note that the combined power of eight mini-Zapfish is equal to the power of one regular Zapfish.
Outwardly, Zapfishes resemble a cross between a small fish and a filament of a light bulb. They have a large head with two small eyes, two nostrils, a pair of large orange lips, and yellow antennae that pulse with electricity. Under the head there is a smaller body (yellow and white) with two small fins and a tail with black tips.
Early life and appearance of the Inklings
Inklings typically begin their lives as squid-like larvae (paralarvae), but as they mature, they become increasingly humanoid. By age 14, Inklings have mastered both forms and can switch between their humanoid and squid forms at will. Their "Kid Form" resembles a young adult with cartoonish proportions, but has several notable differences. Instead of hair, Inklings have tentacles growing from their heads, colored on the outside and white on the inside. The outer surface of the tentacles changes color depending on the individual Inkling's ink color; it typically features a spotted pattern that transitions to a gradient of another color at the tip (this is especially noticeable on the longest tentacles). An Inkling's eyes are surrounded by a black "mask," which meets above the bridge of their nose (the exception being Nami, whose mask is not connected). They also have large, pointed ears, similar to squid fins. Their mouths are adorned with two ridges shaped like human teeth, as well as two large, sharp fangs on the top and one on the bottom, reminiscent of a squid's beak. The inside of their mouths is usually the color of their ink, although some have red ink, like humans. Their shape resembles a small, cartoonish squid with a solid coloring. They have several short appendages in the center of their body and two large tentacles on either side, a short mantle with relatively large fins, and two upward-facing, humanoid eyes with a distinctive black mask. As in their humanoid form, the undersides of their tentacles are always white (regardless of ink color) and end in a single, large sucker. There are slight differences between male and female Inklings. In general, boys wear shorter tentacle "hairstyles," have thicker eyebrows, and a deeper voice, while girls tend to have longer tentacles, thinner eyebrows, higher-pitched voices, and a more sculpted, feminine figure.
Freshness
The most important aspect of Inkling culture is the concept of "freshness" (or style). It is determined by how modern and effective the appearance and equipment of the Inkling are, as well as how well he wields weapons and proves himself in battle. "Freshness" is so important that many store owners refuse to serve inexperienced customers.
The culmination of cultural life for many Inklings is competitive battles. They serve not only as entertainment and a way to relax, but also as a reminder of the Inklings' victory in the Great Territory War. This is by far the most popular activity among young Inklings; it includes many modes, the main of which is "Battle for Territory", as well as "Zones of Control", "Megacarp" and others.
Appearance plays a huge role in the culture of the Inklings, and for many of them, the ability to express themselves is a must. The Inklings have come up with many original ways to lay their tentacles, as well as creating a huge variety of equipment brands and fashion styles. In addition to the lobby, the most visited places in the Inkling cities are the numerous shops where you can buy equipment. It's common to see Inklings gathering outside these shops, both inside and out, to mingle and show off their new gear.
jellyfish
After their defeat in the Great War for Territory, the Octorians settled underground in domes and tunnels. They lack energy, as they do not have the Great Zapfish; Instead, they use conventional electric fish, which generate energy, but in much smaller volumes. Jellyfish: Jellyfish are more similar to their aquatic cousins than Inklings and Octarians, but their bodies have taken on a more humanoid form. They have large rounded heads, and of the facial features there are only two close-set eyes with diamond-shaped pupils and no visible iris. They have a pair of upper tentacles that serve as arms and a ring of eight lower tentacles that act as legs. They are able to lengthen their "tentacle arms" at will, increasing their size several times compared to the length of the body.
Inkling Culture Part 2
The Inklings attach great importance to control over the territory, so any infrastructure objects are often covered with graffiti and tags - a kind of signs indicating ownership. The artbook The Art of Splatoon explains that the idea originated from the concept of Turf War, where players spray and apply ink to take over space; This implies that some of the Inklings' graffiti is made in ink.
The music of the Inklings can rightly be called the most important element of their culture; it has an incredible variety of styles and genres - from the rock band Squid Squad to the world-famous pop idols, the Squid Sisters.
new squad
"New Squidbeak Splatoon Squad": The "New Squidbeak Splatoon Squad" is a secret organization of secret agents created to fight the Octorians. This group is the successor to the original Squidbeak Splatoon squad.
The "New Squidbeak Splatoon Squad" was formed by Cap'n Cuttlefish after the Octorians kidnapped the Great Zapfish. He recruited his granddaughter Callie into the squad, who, in turn, involved her cousin Marie in the search for the missing Zapfish.
The "new Squidbeak Splatoon squad" operates in secret, so civilians are unaware of what is happening—in fact, they are not even aware of the organization's existence. A similar situation has developed with the Octorian society: the Inklings do not know that they still exist and live underground.
Inkling behavior
The Inklings can be described as carefree and absent-minded lovers of fun: they showed little concern when the Great Zapfish went missing, nor were they too alarmed when the Octolings appeared in Incopolis. Moreover, it is known that during the Great Territory War, the Octorian forces easily won initial battles, simply because the Inklings could not wake up early enough. In Sunken Scrolls, the Inklings' mentality is described as simple and hedonistic, though this is most likely just Octorian propaganda. Their attitude to work reflects their carefree disposition and craving for pleasure: for example, in the book The Art of Splatoon 2, it is noted that many Inklings prefer to work only part-time. They easily forget about old trends and switch their attention to everything new and fresh.
Food
In addition to sushi, the Inklings usually eat a variety of seafood, which is repeatedly mentioned in dialogue during Splatfests. However, the exact species of marine life and fish that are used for their food remain unknown; Rice is also a popular product. The fact that the Inklings eat squid and octopus (their relatives) looks rather creepy, but it is assumed that they eat only less intelligent members of these species. In addition, their diet includes meat, poultry, vegetables and fruits - and some of the latter are found only in Novy Mir. Numerous Western and non-Western dishes are also mentioned in the dialogues, indicating the great variety of gastronomic preferences of the Inklings.
The biology of the Inklings
Inkling Biology: In both squid and humanoid forms, the Inklings have special abilities. In their humanoid form, they can spray a special type of colored ink using a variety of weapons: blasters, rollers, buckets, brushes, and so on. This ink quickly coats most surfaces, with the exception of inflatable barriers, black asphalt and glass. Ink slows down the movement of Inklings if their color does not match the color of the ink. Upon hitting an enemy, the ink deals damage, ultimately incapacitating them and causing them to respawn. On land, in the form of a squid, the Inklings can only crawl slowly. The situation changes if the Inkling is immersed in ink of its own color, which allows it to swim quickly and jump long distances. In addition, while in squid form, Inklings can perform maneuvers such as the Squid Surge and Squid Roll, climb painted walls, and slip through mesh fences and bars into areas inaccessible in humanoid form. When moving in ink, they create only small ripples, and if they freeze, they become invisible. When in ink of their own color, they quickly replenish ammunition. In ink of a foreign color, the Inkling cannot hold the form of a squid and quickly takes on a humanoid form. After the battle, the inklings' ink disappears quite quickly, as it is absorbed by microorganisms that have evolved to feed on this substance.
Holidays
Squidmas is an Inkling festival that seems to be celebrated during the cold season. Not much is known about this holiday, except for its obvious resemblance to human Christmas. In winter, a character named Father Squidmas is supposed to fly around the world, handing out gifts and giving "freshness" to all obedient Inkling children. According to Callie of the Squid Sisters, Father Squidmas lives at the North Pole and makes gifts year-round in preparation for the holiday. However, her cousin Marie claims that Father Squidmas does not really exist, and all meetings with him are only their grandfather, disguised as this fairy-tale character.
Halloween is another holiday celebrated by the Inklings; Evidence of this is the Trick vs. Treat Splatfests and their re-running. As in the case of the human holiday of the same name, the Inklings and representatives of other species dress up in costumes and participate in the traditional collection of sweets. Locations are also decorated with frightening décor: ghosts, skeletons, and glow-in-the-dark graffiti.
Splatfest
From time to time, usually once a month, "Splatfests" are held. These are special festivals that unite the Inklings for a grand concert and the triumph of opposing ideas; they can be seen as a fusion of music and "Battles for Territory", two of the main pillars of Inkling culture. Participants are divided into teams representing two different points of view and compete in "Battles for Territory" to see which one will prevail. This is a large-scale event, during which the whole city is transformed for the sake of the holiday. On the streets, you can see many Inklings dancing, enjoying live performances by the Squid Sisters and other idols, and supporting their teams by wearing special T-shirts and creating festival-themed graffiti.
Octolings
100 years before the events of Splatun, the Inklings and Octarians of the Incadia entered the Great War for territory, despite generally good relations, when rising sea levels caused disputes over the remaining territory. Young Captain Kettlefish and his fellow Inklings were victorious, forcing the Octarians to retreat to desert areas such as the Octo Vale and Octo Canyon and settle underground. All Octolings from the Incadia began their lives in the Octarian domes, eventually becoming soldiers in the Octarian army under the command of DJ Octavio. Propaganda supported the Octolings' devotion to the Octarian way of life, however, during the final battle with Octavio in Splatoon, the idol duo Squid Sisters performed Calamari Inkantation to support Agent 3 during the fight. The spectacle sparked new feelings among the octopus soldiers in attendance, and many of them began to yearn for the surface, eventually fleeing and assimilating into the Inkling culture, hoping to start anew. Like Inklings, octopuses can switch between humanoid and octopus forms. Their octopus shape is slightly different from that of enemy octopuses: they have two long tentacles, two much smaller ones in the front that resemble whiskers and four smaller ones underneath, as well as a pair of eyes similar to those of the Inkling squid, though not connected to each other. On the underside of their tentacles are suckers, as opposed to the humanoid form that has them on top; The tips of the tentacles, like the upper part of the head, have a darker gradient and a small ring pattern. When they get into your eyes, they fly away as small ghosts, just like the Inklings. Like the Inklings, the Octolings have black markings around the eyes with a thicker lower line, though not connected in the middle, and with sharper angles; female Octolings have an extra cilium in the lower outer corner of the mark. Their teeth are also arranged differently, with one sharp canine on the left in the top row and the other on the right in the bottom row.
Inklings
The Inklings are a race of squid that, upon reaching the age of 14, acquire the ability to take on a humanoid form. Unlike their animal ancestors that evolved after the Great Flood, the Inklings cannot survive underwater; They live in urban settlements, where the most popular sport is to fight for control of territory with ink. They use their ability to swim solely to immerse themselves in ink and move through it at high speed. The Inklings coexist peacefully with members of other species and are the most numerous race in Chromopolis (followed by jellyfish); They are distinguished by their love of noisy entertainment, fashion and music.
Inklings can switch between a humanoid form and a squid form that resembles enemies named Blooper from the Super Mario series. In their humanoid form, black lines resembling a mask are visible around their eyes; They have long, pointed ears, and their hairstyle resembles jelly-like tentacles. The teeth of the Inklings look like fangs. Their second appearance is a brightly colored cartoon squid with just two visible tentacles and eyes that appear to be fused. Apparently, they do not talk, but only make certain sounds. Inklings and their ink can be of a wide variety of colors: orange, blue, green, purple, light blue, yellow and pink; The color of the ink always matches the color of the hairstyle and eyebrows.
technologies
The Inklings' technology is similar to that of humans around 2020, while the Octorians have more advanced technology and even create flying platforms.
Splatdens
The Splatlands region is located far west of Inkopolis and the Incadia, the main setting for the first two games in the Splatoon series. The area has a unique culture that attracted many Inklings and Octolings in the years leading up to the events of Splatoon 3. This is where Splatsville, the main hub of Splatoon 3, is located. The area is characterized by a hot, dry desert climate and a vast territory; Apparently, the conditions here influenced the appearance of the Inklings and Octolings who have lived there for a long time. Near the Crater — which hides the lost human settlement of Alterna — you can see a structure that resembles the Eiffel Tower, but is turned upside down. The trailer for the single-player campaign showed a shot capturing the moment this structure flipped over. According to records from the Alterna archives, Splatlands was the first region to be colonized by the ancestors of the Inklings and Octoarians, who made their way to the surface of the Earth from Alterna. It is implied that the Splatlands were not as badly affected by the flooding that triggered the Great Turf War as the Incadia. This is due to the appearance of three fires that prevented a catastrophe in the area (as described in the second Sunken Scroll 2). As a result, the Inklings and Octoarians in Splatlands appear to have maintained good neighborly relations: for example, Shiver is known to have grown up near Frye and attended the same high school with her prior to the events of Splatoon 3, and her clan represented the interests of the Splatlands for many years without any apparent connection to the Octoarian army.
Incopolis
Incopolis was founded long after the Earth was under water due to rising sea levels, and its land inhabitants — such as humans — became extinct. Over the course of 12,000 years, octopuses and squids have evolved into land creatures and lived in harmony with each other. However, everything changed when sea levels rose again. A struggle began for the remaining habitable land, the Great War for Territory; Having been defeated in it, the Octolings were forced to go underground. Incopolis became home to the Inklings and jellyfish. It is a lively metropolis, the center of which is Inkopolis Plaza.
story
History: The Inklings are an evolved species of squid that appeared after rising sea levels led to the demise of humanity. The first ancestors of the modern Inklings, according to records, lived about 5,000 years after the destruction of the human settlement of Alterna. The inhabitants of Alterna unwittingly accelerated the evolution of squid and other marine life: psychoreactive liquid crystals fell into the ocean surrounding the settlement, absorbing residual human thoughts and feelings. At least 2000 years before the events of Splatoon, the "Turf Wars" were born. The first such battles were overseen by Judd, a cat that was frozen by a human master before the Earth was flooded. 100 years before the events of Splatoon, the Great Battle for Territory broke out between the Inklings and the Octolings (Octarians); Before that, they had maintained good relations, but rising sea levels provoked disputes over the remaining landmass. Young Captain Cottelfish and his fellow Inklings were victorious, forcing the Octarians to retreat to uninhabited places such as the Octo Valley and Octo Canyon and settle underground.
about the robot Octobot King 3 L3.Gs
It's a huge robot that looks both technologically advanced and a little battered by time. The main body is massive, rounded and painted in a dirty white, dusty color with noticeable signs of wear and rust, which gives the impression that the robot was assembled from old parts. In the upper part there is a cabin that resembles an open capsule. Octavio himself sits inside and controls the machine, remaining clearly visible during the fight. On the sides are two huge mechanical arms with heavy fists. They are much larger than the hull and are capable of rotating and launching as projectiles. Unlike previous versions of the Octobot, the L3.Gs model received two long mechanical legs. Thanks to them, the robot can walk, run and stomp on the ground with force. It is the presence of legs that is reflected in the name of the L3.Gs, which is a play on words with the English legs ("legs"). During some attacks, the robot is able to transform: the legs fold, and the body goes into flying mode with jet engines, allowing the machine to hover in the air.
Octavio's personality
DJ Octavio is an Octoling who is unable to transform from his octopus form due to injuries sustained during the Great Territory War. In his Octoling form, he resembles a very large, nuclear-pink octopus. His irises are blue, his eyeballs green, and his facial expression appears perpetually angry. He wears a large, golden, kabuto-style helmet with an octopus emblem on the front, stylized as a wasabi leaf, and a large, green, X-shaped scar is visible on one of the two tentacles that are always crossed in front of him. DJ Octavio has been the leader of the Octarians for a very long time, dating back to the time when they and the Inklings were allies. However, rapidly rising sea levels forced the two species to clash, leading him to even battle his former comrade, Cattlefish. Octavio retained his position as leader of the Octarian army during the subsequent Great Territory War, which the Octarians lost. At some point during the war, Octavio was injured, losing the ability to transform from octopus to human. This has given Octavio a dislike for Inklings, especially Cattlefish. In his octopus form, he appears much larger than normal Octolings in octopus form, and even larger than Inklings and Octolings in humanoid form. This is likely a result of the passage of time. He is very charismatic, loves music and techno, is loud and self-confident, incredibly stubborn, cares for his people, hates losing, and can unite even with enemies for a common cause. He also often uses musical terminology in his lyrics. After battling Mr. Grizz, having put aside old grievances and teamed up with Cattlefish, their relationship became warmer. He has his own enormous combat robot, Octobot King 3 L3.Gs.
