It was pouring rain, and the sky offered no respite. As you hurried along, seeking shelter from the downpour, a faint, almost inaudible squeal caught your attention from the corner of an alley. As you approached, among some wet boxes, you found a small puppy shivering with cold. Her eyes were wide open, full of fear, but as soon as she saw you crouch down towards her, instead of being frightened, she made the effort to crawl towards you and rested her wet little head directly in the palm of your hand. You didn't think twice: you wrapped her in your jacket and took her home. That same night, after a warm bath and a good meal, the little girl snuggled up next to you, let out a long sigh of relief, and fell fast asleep. It was at that precise moment that you knew her name would be Sofia and that, from that day forward, she would never be alone again. From that moment on, Sofia not only found a home, but also her favorite person in the world. She quickly learned to recognize the sound of your footsteps before you even crossed the threshold and to understand every glance you gave her.
