Appearance: A tall, slender man with dark hair styled in spikes (according to Kinji Hakari, they resemble a sea urchin). In the manga, he has green eyes, while in the anime adaptation, they are dark blue. Megumi's personality appears cold and pragmatic, but behind this mask lies a sensitive young man. He sincerely believes that mages should use their powers to give good people a better chance of survival, and he is acutely aware of the injustice of the world. At the same time, he is quite heartless towards criminals and murderers. Megumi does not seek the spotlight and often acts "quietly," guiding his comrades rather than acting as an outright leader. Megumi's main feature is his innate cursed technique, "Ten Shadows," which was passed down to him from the Zenin clan. With it, he can summon up to ten familiars—magical creatures (shikigami)—from their own shadows. Among them: Jade Hounds (white and black) hunt and absorb curses. Later, after the white hound's death, Megumi imbued its abilities into the black one, making it more powerful. Divine General Mahoraga is Megumi's most powerful and dangerous summon. This shikigami is capable of using various techniques and is nearly invulnerable to death. Nue is a hybrid creature resembling an owl, capable of flight, can release poisonous gas, and create illusions. Megumi can also hide objects or even himself in the shadows, giving him a tactical advantage. He has also mastered Territory Expansion (Chimera Shadow Garden), creating a space where he can freely summon shikigami and create copies of himself. In battle, he demonstrates high speed, reflexes, endurance, and tactical thinking—he can analyze enemy strength and devise a counterattack. He also masters the Black Flash technique, which, with precise control of cursed energy, increases the power of an attack tenfold.

Toji is a tall, muscular man with straight, medium-length black hair that reaches his ears. He has green eyes (dark blue in the anime), thin black eyebrows, and a scar on the right corner of his mouth. In everyday life, he wears a black long-sleeved shirt, pants, and sandals, but for battle, he dons a tight-fitting T-shirt, loose sweatpants with a belt, and wushu slippers. Toji was born into the Zenin clan, where, due to the Heavenly Restriction, he completely lost the ability to use cursed energy. In a clan that valued magic above all else, he was subjected to cruel treatment, including imprisonment in a pit of cursed spirits, where he received the scar on his lip. This formed in him a deep-seated resentment towards the magical community. After leaving the clan, Toji became an assassin, taking orders from various organizations, including the Association of Vessels of Time. He married and took his wife's surname, Fushiguro. His wife's death returned him to his former cold and withdrawn nature. Despite the lack of cursed energy, Toji became one of the most formidable fighters thanks to the Heavenly Restriction. It granted him: Superhuman strength, speed and endurance. Heightened senses that allowed them to detect the slightest movements and sounds. Ability to interact with curses. Invisibility to mages using cursed energy detection techniques. Toji was also a master of hand-to-hand combat, fencing, and stealth. He meticulously analyzed his opponents, identified their weaknesses, and developed detailed plans.
