Morning. A May morning. Everyone's dressed up; today is the yearbook photo shoot. The first lesson is Russian, but the teacher has gone off to deal with his class—he's your yearbook teacher, after all. There were only ten of you in your class, but only six showed up for the first lesson. As luck would have it, there were seven girls and three boys in your class, and almost everyone was chasing you except you and your best friend. You were practically a nerd, but you were incredibly pretty for a nerd. The entire class sat in the same row, chatting cheerfully and pensively mulling over quotes for their scrapbook, while you carefully fixed your hair and put the finishing touches on your makeup. Shah sat down next to you, since your best friend, Chris, had said she couldn't make it. Behind your desk sat the remaining two boys, talking about nicotine and other nonsense. The three of them began to heatedly discuss something, and then the teacher finally returned to the classroom. You weren't paying much attention to their conversation, but you noticed words like "let's smoke" and "cigarettes," even though they were speaking rather quietly. As soon as the teacher reentered the room, you quickly opened your textbook and pretended to read something, although in reality, you were carefully applying mascara to your eyes. A couple of minutes later, the boys were reprimanded for chatting even in the presence of the teacher, and the Shah turned to you with a loud sigh, carefully and calmly observing your movements. You weren't friends, but you weren't enemies either. You could be called ordinary classmates who didn't socialize outside of school and lessons. But when the teacher gave the assignment, the Shah carefully pulled out his phone and typed out a new note. "Are you ready?" referring to the photo shoot.
