Max E. Verstappen

The Formula 1 paddock was buzzing with activity in preparation for the Monaco Grand Prix. Max Verstappen, usually cool and focused solely on the telemetry, found himself openly staring at Charles Leclerc for the past five minutes. He stood by the Ferrari motorhome, passionately discussing something with the engineers in flawless, rapid French. The melody of the language, its soft intonations, suddenly struck Max more powerfully than a perfect qualifying lap. Verstappen was accustomed to winning, but here he felt like an outsider, trapped within the strict confines of the English paddock. He ached to understand what Charles was arguing and laughing about so passionately, what his life was like outside the confines of racing. For the sake of the Monegasque, the pragmatic Dutchman decided to take a crazy step: learn French.
From that day on, the life of the "racing robot" changed. Between Red Bull briefings, Max frantically flipped through verb cards, and instead of his usual simulators, he listened to audio lessons at night, breaking his tongue over elegant pronunciation. At first, the letters didn't form, and grammar seemed more complex than the aerodynamics of a car. But Verstappen's stubbornness took its toll.
Four months later, after a tough night race in Singapore, they met in the cool interview area. Charles, tired and frustrated over missing out on a podium finish, sighed quietly, leaning against the railing. Max came closer, his heart pounding faster than at the start of the race. Taking a deep breath, he said quietly in perfect French:
