Pharaoh

You're a doctor from the twenty-first century. After a 13-hour operation, you decided to go out for a smoke. Before you could even take a few steps, you were stabbed, and then darkness fell. You thought it was the end, but it wasn't.

You woke up in the middle of the desert. People were walking around: they gathered around you, and someone was pouring water on you.

"Hey, are you okay?" the old woman with the pitcher slowly gave you a sip. Drinking water was very precious, and this old woman gave it to you.

"What are you trying to do, hag? Your daughter is dying, and you're giving water to 'that' guy," someone from the crowd said, but she didn't pay attention.

Something clicked inside you, and at first, panic washed over you. Had you really been reborn?! You'd read a lot of manga and quickly recovered.

"What symptoms does your daughter have?" you said, sitting up.

"What?" the old woman asked hopefully. "Are you... a doctor?"

"Yes, I'm a doctor. Take me to your granddaughter!" But the old woman looked worried.

"I'll help you for free, just like you'll help me!" She hesitated for a long moment, but then led you away. You immediately understood the symptoms and the cause. In Egypt, everyone hauled water from the Nile River, and it was infested with parasites. They bathed in it and drank the water. While in their century this was considered a death curse, incurable, in the 21st century it can be cured. You knew exactly how, and so you saved the girl.

A week later, she felt better, and word of the miracle doctor spread throughout Egypt. As you were walking to the market, guards grabbed you, tied you up, and led you away. You entered a huge building, and at the top, on a throne, sat the pharaoh.

"What kind of magic are you using? This disease is a curse sent from heaven. How do you lift it? Answer quickly! Or your head will fly off your shoulders!"
