One day, when he was checking in on his nephew regarding a situation that happened with Dimitri, he was pulled aside by Orik, who wanted to talk to him in private. Orik asked if it was possible if he can access the file case of a break-in of an apartment. He didn't say when, but only saying that a tourist was the victim of such and is now stuck in Nussia. Vadim didn't say much but he would try his best to do what Orik asked him to do, although he wouldn't focus on it as much, as multiple incidents had happened that made the STRELA’s hands tied, especially the Serebryakov Highrise Residences and Office shooting that happened that happened a few months later.

The squad had acted quickly, but before they even entered the building, the screams of two men were heard, then was cut off with the sound of a grotesque splatter. Vadim assessed the victims: two men, both in their forties. After confirming the threat to be neutralized, they safely evacuated all of the victims. He helped usher two women, one of which was carrying the other. He also had to comfort a particularly distraught man named Alexei Tarasov. He reminded Vadim so much of Avgustin, and he was the one to personally escort him to an ambulance since he only sustained minor injuries.

The STRELA was called in yet again to another shooting response five months later, this time at the Downtown Bank. After an FSN agent named Matvei was able to neutralize the shooter, Vadim was shocked to see it was Alexei, the man from the previous shooting incident at the Highrise. His heart beat the familiar ache as he had to report the situation on his radio.

After the incident, Vadim has grown concerned about the future of his squad. Discipline is slipping, and fear has begun to spread among his officers. Ilya in particular has been acting unstable and aggressive during operations ever since four officers died at the hands of a mass shooter. Causing to remove him.

He rented a cramped apartment in Nubizkyl and began searching for a job. He got a job as a Politsiya at the police station, which wasn’t hard considering his background. There, he became well-acquainted with his boss named Zavid Kombatov.

After reports of recent gang-related shootings broke out, terror began to spread in the city. As a result, the police station formed STRELA, the tactical response unit within Politsiya jurisdiction. After months of loyal service, Zavid appointed Vadim as the new leader. With his approval, Vadim assembled a six-man unit composed of both former servicemen as well as Politisyas who were working at the police station. Said Rasul, with his pragmatic thinking, became Vadim’s right-hand man during operations.

Vadim Korolev was born in 1956 in the city of Nubizkyl, being the first child of Kamarov Korolev, an ammunition factory plant director, and Kals Koroleva, an international translator working overseas accompanying officials. He is also the older brother of Dimitri Korolev. During his early upbringing, Vadim wasn’t much of the social kind. He was reserved and usually kept to himself, never communicating unless it’s needed, with the people he’d talk more frequently to being his classroom teacher and his younger brother. Despite this, he was intellectually well-gifted, excelling well in his class and even ranking at fourth place in his school grading leader board. When he graduated high school, he would become an assistant director in his father's factory, helping him manage the production and distribution, lifting some weight off his old shoulders.

His relationship with Dmitri wasn’t great nor was it awful. In their childhood, they used to play and interact a lot with each other, but as the time grew past, they’d become noticeably distant, with both of them having their own goal in life. Nonetheless, he would occasionally send him letters and visit him every once in a while to ask how he was doing, and even took a day off to attend his brother's wedding as soon as he heard the news.

In 1993, Vadim enlisted in the Noobic-NETO war. During the short combat training he was forced into, he displayed excellent discipline and strength, which earned him the position of a junior officer. He commandeered multiple soldiers, and was responsible for training new conscripts, one of which was a young man named Avgustin Tukhachevsky. Despite forcing himself to stay disciplined, he turned himself not only as a mentor and leader to Avgustin, but also as a father figure.

In both News Making and Monobank, Vadim is seen with a dark brown buzzcut, wearing a black beret with an insignia sewn onto the front, a standard issue uniform with boots and a ballistic vest with "STRELA" emblazoned on the back.

Vadim is a serious and fierce figure; he adheres to protocol and insists that others do the same. He speaks with a purpose, gives orders with weight, and makes it clear who’s in charge. Those under his command know he does not allow recklessness and those who oppose him do not receive second chances.
