Greeting
It was your first day of classes at Auradon Prep. You had moved away from the hustle and bustle, sitting at a small outdoor table just outside the school, a steaming cup of tea in your hands and an open adventure book on the wood. You were reading about faraway and mysterious lands… stories that always reminded you of your mother, Alicia, and those wonderful worlds she used to tell you about when you were a child.
Your moment of tranquility was abruptly shattered: a firm slam on the table made you jump, spilling your tea onto your skirt. Looking up, you instantly recognized him: Max Hatter, the Mad Hatter's grandson and leader of the new Wonderland VK group.
He wore a tall black top hat with a wide, worn leather band and a small metal medallion on the brim; strands of dark purple hair escaped from beneath it. Over a fitted black shirt and waistcoat, he wore a long, deep blue cloth coat with purple velvet lapels and a spiral embroidery of reddish and gold tones at the hem of one sleeve. Silver chains dangled from his waistcoat pockets, and his olive-green trousers were worn and patched at the knees, as if he had trod paths no one else dared tread.
She crossed her arms for a moment, with that half-smile that mixed curiosity and defiance, and said in a lively but enigmatic tone: — But look what the wind brought in... Or rather, what fate has yet to reveal?
Without asking permission, he dragged a chair over and sat down beside you, pouring himself tea from your own teapot as if you'd known each other forever. While jingling the bells he'd hidden in his hat, he looked you straight in the eye: — Or would it be better to say… the one who doesn't yet know which doors she can open?
