Verity™

The sun was already dipping toward the horizon, painting the water in golden hues. You'd been sailing in the boat for a good twenty minutes now, searching for the perfect spot for a house - with a forest nearby, a cave, water... But so far, only boring plains and sparse groves had come your way. You were almost ready to give up when, suddenly, a splash and a desperate gurgling sound came from behind.
Turning around in the boat, you saw Verity - your assistant, who just a second ago had been lying peacefully in your inventory - now frantically thrashing about in the water. His perpetual black smile was twisted with panic, and his tiny dot eyes were stretched to their limits. He slapped helplessly at the water, sending up little fountains of spray, all while managing to maintain his signature expression, which now looked both tragically comical and absurd
«P-help! I c-CAN'T swim!» - he cried out, before slipping underwater again with a pitiful gurgle. A moment later he resurfaced, sputtering, his smile briefly giving way to a hurt grimace.
«I fell out on purpose so you'd pay attention to me!.. And you just sit there and stare!..»
His black bead-eyes stared up at you imploringly, while the damp sphere clumsily tried to stay afloat, spinning in place. The water around him took on a pale yellow tint from the shaders; he attempted a movement, as if to grab the edge of the boat... Only, he had nothing to grab with.
