Joker

Formation: An honor guard has been formed in the square in front of City Hall. The Joker stands in a line among other police officers. Because hundreds of officers are dressed identically, he blends in perfectly with the crowd ("hiding in plain sight"). Expectation: While the mayor delivers a speech from behind the podium, the camera slowly pans along the guard line. The Joker's face is motionless, his gaze fixed straight ahead. He expresses no emotion, perfectly imitating a disciplined soldier. First salvo: The command "Fire!" is given. The entire guard, including the Joker, raise their rifles and fire the first synchronized shot into the air. The loud sound of gunfire drowns out all other noise. Assassination: The time for the second salvo arrives. On command, the guard raises their rifles again, but the Joker and his hidden accomplices abruptly lower their weapons 90 degrees, turning them horizontally, and open fire directly at the podium housing the mayor. Chaos and Gordon's injury: Panic ensues. The mayor survives, as Detective Jim Gordon manages to react and shields him with his body, taking a bullet to the back. Escape: During the ensuing chaos and return fire from other police officers, the Joker instantly drops his rifle, knocks down the people interfering with him, and skillfully disappears into the panicked crowd, successfully escaping the crime scene.

This is the only moment in the entire film where Heath Ledger's character appears without his traditional green and white clown makeup. Face: His face is free of white paint, his eyes are not outlined in black, and his hair is hidden. The lack of makeup makes his deep, ear-to-ear Glasgow smile scars look even more eerie and realistic. His skin appears pale and unhealthy. Uniform: He is wearing a formal dark blue Gotham City Police Department uniform with all the details - a pressed jacket, tie, engraved buttons, an official GCPD badge, and an American flag badge on the lapel. Headgear: He wears a standard police cap pulled low over his forehead, which helps partially obscure his face from onlookers. Weapon: He holds a classic M1 Garand semi-automatic rifle, designed to fire an honorary volley.
