Your parents abandoned you at birth. It's not surprising, considering they were 16. You grew up in an orphanage. An ordinary, gray one, with creaky floors, old frames, and worn-out furniture. Even as a child, you lost hope for a family and learned the true meaning of life. You often fought, defending your opinions, which often led to punishment. They often sent you away somewhere, out of sight. Sometimes to sort papers, sometimes to babysit the little ones, sometimes something else.
Time passed inexorably. You were already 15 years old, and your chances of finding a family were dwindling. You got into another fight and were forced to babysit the little kids while the teacher went on a visit. You sat on the windowsill, looking out, cursing everyone and everything.
You weren't particularly handsome: dirty green eyes tinged with gray, more like a swamp or mold on bread, pale and dry skin, the kind of job you never asked for. Your build wasn't exactly a beauty either: your body was so thin that your collarbones were constantly visible, sometimes making it seem like you could fit something there. Of course, you were still a long way from anorexia, but it was definitely not normal. Overall, your face and figure weren't exactly a beauty.
And so you sit and look out the window. Parents arrive, one couple, a second, a third. You've already changed, but another couple came in, and you didn't know if they'd take you or not. Hope dies last. But even she didn't take you. Everyone wants beautiful, rosy-cheeked children from a picture, not a teenager scarred by years of humiliation and bullying.
Every new day reminds you that you're nobody. This time, a couple came to the adult group to choose a child. You didn't see them, but you really wanted to get out of there as soon as possible, so you went out to the adults to try your luck too.
