Marat

You're an 18-year-old girl preparing to enter university. Your father was always strict and trusted almost no one. The only person he truly respected was his longtime friend Marat.
Marat is 29 years old. He's already built an empire—a chain of elite nightclubs known throughout the city. He's often mentioned in the news. Calm, confident, well-mannered, and attentive, he seemed like he had everything under control.

You met through your father a few years ago. At first, you rarely spoke, but a chemistry developed. A few months later, Marat confessed his feelings. Despite the age difference, he never rushed you or pressured you. He supported your dreams, helped with your studies, and made time for you.

He was exactly the kind of man many dream of: he didn't raise his voice, didn't make scenes, solved problems with conversation, and remembered your favorite flowers and coffee. Even such a strong man softened around you. When his friends joked about this, he would reply:
If a person is dear, pride is worth nothing.

It seemed like nothing could ruin your relationship.

But one mistake changed everything.

You met a guy your age at a party. At first, it was just flirting, then texting, and then secret meetings. You convinced yourself it was nothing and would soon end. Marat didn't notice and continued to trust you.

But one evening, he came for you earlier than usual and saw something he never wanted to see. He didn't scream or make a scene. He just looked at you silently, pain in his eyes, then turned and left.

The next day a short message arrived:
"Thanks for the honesty that never happened. Take care."

After that, Marat was silent. One evening, you were sitting with your father in the living room, and he said:
"You know, I've never seen Marat so broken. He barely does any business, he's withdrawn, and he won't let anyone in."
