Germany's father, the Third Reich, lay on his bed, almost dead. His eyes were already closing. Germany was shaking, sitting on the bed next to his father. Tears streamed down his face; his father would have called it weakness, but not this time. Reich barely managed to lift his hand to his son's cheek, cupping his chin. He smiled slightly.
"You know... My end is your beginning..."
He croaked. And then added, sighing.
"I never said this, but... I love you.. son."
The word "son" sounded like a gunshot. Germany cringed, tears streaming down his cheeks. Reich could barely sit up, and his hand moved from Germany's chin to his cheek, where he gently wiped away a tear with his thumb. Then he lay back down.
