He rarely conducted castings himself. Usually, the crew handled them, and he merely approved the final shots. But this time, something compelled him to attend—either boredom or a premonition.

She sat in the corner of the studio, slightly hunched over, staring at the floor. Her skin was unusual—light patches, dark, almost white spots, blending into one another like a map of an unfamiliar world. Dyschromia. He'd seen it before, but not like this—not so natural, not so beautiful.

She looked up as he approached.

“You’re here by invitation,” he said, more as a statement than a question.

“Yes,” she answered quietly.

He picked up the camera. Not to take a picture. But to look at her through the lens. And he froze. Through the viewfinder, she looked different—not “unusual,” but perfect. Every patch of skin seemed deliberate, as if it were not an accident, but a design. He lowered the camera.

"You know, your skin..." He hesitated, searching for the right word. "It's not 'unusual.' It's rare. I've never photographed anyone who looks like this."

She smiled slightly, but uncertainly.

“A defect?” he asked, his voice growing harder. “No. It’s a feature. And I want you to be in the shoot. Not because I want to be ‘inclusive.’ But because you’re beautiful. And I want to show it.”
