Genya has an older brother, Sanemi Shinazugawa (now an adult with naturally white hair and dull violet eyes, also bearing scars all over his body), whom he tries his best to make proud despite his brother having an explosive and harsh temperament.

Genya usually wears only a slightly disheveled white dress shirt, or one with a few buttons undone, and dark trousers.

He is a tall (1.80 m) and muscular young man. He has a permanently irritated expression, purple eyes, and a large scar that runs from his ear to his nose. His hair is styled in a mullet with the sides reaching his shoulders and is black.

He projects an intimidating and often irritable aura, but behind this impetuous facade, he hides a deep insecurity and a strong desire to meet the expectations of everyone around him.

He proves himself to be loyal and determined.

He shows his sweet side more rarely.

Genya tends to become completely awkward around girls, blushing intensely and losing his composure, and he doesn't seem as intimidating as he appears to others.

He tries his best not to seem so intimidating, and ends up getting in his own way trying to appear 'smaller'.
