Black Hat

Toxin and Acid Resistance: In one villainous comic, Black Hat mistakenly drank the most caustic and toxic compound ever created that Flag left in his cup; he spat it back in 5.0.5's face, finding it too sweet for his taste. Awareness of the fourth wall.

Telekinesis: In the same episode, Black Hat is shown to have the ability to strangle people simply by using his mind. He does this to Dr. Flag as a warning to him not to brag about himself. Weather Control: In "The Villainy at Monte Mort", Black Hat summoned a thunderstorm in anticipation of his arrival. Teleportation: Black Hat can teleport himself and others through various means, such as being struck by lightning or being immersed in darkness. Technopathy: Black Hat can interfere with the operation of electronic devices at will, as demonstrated when a citizen who had mistakenly entered his estate attempted to take a photograph of him. He can also interact with the digital world, as he forcibly put the said citizen there through his cell phone, and also got out of 5.0.5's computer after scaring him. Fiction Manipulation: He can warp any medium to his liking, such as when he set fire to Weeweenies and combined a man and his horse (inside a soap opera), leaving a black rose for the lady. Heightened Senses: Black Hat seems to be able to sense when someone is speaking to him directly, as he has been shown hissing in Demensia's general direction when she calls out to him even from the upper atmosphere. Transmutation: He can transform into dark mist and a mass of worms. Summoning: Black Hat can summon people to him at will, often in painful and disturbing ways, or send them away. He can also summon a hellish steed for him to ride. Ghost Sealing: Black Hat can cause ghosts to possess inanimate objects, using it as a service provided by this organization. Corrupting Aura: People who remain in his presence long enough are driven mad and become his devoted followers. It's unknown whether this is a passive ability or whether he intends it. Interdimensional Travel: He can travel to other universes without assistance.

Shapeshifting: Black Hat has altered his appearance on various occasions to fool or torment others. The most notable example of this is when he transformed into a perfect copy of 5.0.5 to scare Demencia in "Wearing Evil." Size Manipulation: Likely as another form of his shapeshifting, Black Hat can alter the size of his body to that of a giant, as shown using this ability in "The Sculpting of Evil", "Terrible Dawn", and in one of the Villain Comics. Black Magic: As seen in "Ice Cream Fear", he has some skill in black magic, as he can revert 5.0.5 ice cream back to normal, as well as give it demonic qualities. Laser Vision: In "Bad Security," Black Hat killed a blue jay by shooting a deadly laser from his eyes. He also uses this ability to kill Dr. Flag in "Lost Cases of Townsville." Charisma/Manipulation: Black Hat, as a salesman, uses various forms of charisma and manipulation to convince other villains to buy his inventions. Portal Creation: As shown in the episodes "Squeak" and "The Villainy at Monte Mort", Black Hat can open portals to other dimensions with his claws. Instrumentalism: As seen in "The Note of Destruction", Black Hat is a skilled piano/organ player. Singing: He has the ability to sing skillfully. He also has a tendency to drive people crazy with his singing. Fire Manipulation: Black Hat can project flames at will, incinerating one of Flag's miniature planes when he caught it in his hand (in one of the villainous comics). During a fit of rage, he conjured red pillars of fire (and also set his eyebrows on fire) in "The Lost Cases of Boxmore." Shadow Manipulation: As demonstrated in "The Lost Cases of Elmore," Black Hat can teleport through his shadow. He can also transform his shadow into a cane.

Black Hat wears a black top hat with a red band, as well as a rimless monocle over his left eye. He has dark gray skin, blue fangs, and a forked tongue. He also wears a black cape with a red inner lining, a light gray vest, dark gray pants, a red dress shirt, and a black tie. He has dark gray gloves, and sometimes summons a black cane that he forms from his shadow. His shoes are black with white spats.

Earlier versions of Black Hat are similar, but have slight differences. Before the first season's changes, he had less vibrant colors; most notably, his teeth were a soft green instead of blue. In the webisodes, he had smaller proportions and a white question mark on his top hat. Even older versions of Black Hat have been uploaded by teenager Alan Ithuriel on DeviantArt, usually with a yellow monocle over his right eye, and his name, "Mr.?"

Black Hat derives pleasure from the suffering of others. While he still enjoys it, he's grown tired of always succeeding in his evil schemes, so he founded an organization. Although he values his privacy, he tends not to stop those who try to pry into his affairs, as he'll eventually kill them anyway.

Black Hat's existence is a mystery to Earth. His origins and birth are unknown.

The clothes he wears and his mansion, including the architecture, furniture, and paintings, are reminiscent of the Victorian era. Dr. Flug suggests that this era may be nostalgic for him.

At some point, he founded the Black organization, as well as schools and camps for villains under his name.

Before Dr. Flug, he had a previous mad scientist whom he supposedly killed.
