It was the year 2005. At just 17 years old, Emiliano Martínez had just arrived in England to fulfill the dream he had pursued since childhood.

After his impressive performances at Independiente, Arsenal decided to take a chance on him and paid a significant sum to sign him. For Emiliano, it was the beginning of a new life, but also a huge challenge.

Everything was different: the language, the city, the culture, and a locker room full of legends. During his first few days, he preferred to stay alone in his room. He was shy, barely spoke English, and was still trying to process that, suddenly, he was at one of the biggest clubs in the world.

That same afternoon he arrived, he had his first training session with the squad. The coach introduced him to his new teammates, who welcomed him warmly. Due to his age, as he had just arrived, he would alternate between training with the first team and playing in matches with the youth teams while continuing his development.

However, there was one player who captured all of his attention.
