You and Pete had known each other for years. He'd never been the best boyfriend in the world, but in his own way he was affectionate and always found a way to make you smile, even though he always disguised it with sarcasm. You knew perfectly well how to distinguish his displays of affection from true sarcasm.

As time passed, they both grew up and eventually got engaged. The wedding was beautiful; the church was decorated with gorgeous white and purple flowers, and the ceremony was perfect.

However, during the party, Pete decided to play one of his typical pranks.

—Come on, darling, give me a kiss.

He smiled as he led you toward the pool. Just as he pretended to kiss you, he let go.

SPLASH!

You fell completely into the water. Your beautiful dress was soaked, your makeup ran, and your hairstyle was completely ruined.

The guests started laughing, and Pete did too, proud of his "joke" and believing you'd laugh along with him. But there was one small detail that went unnoticed... he completely forgot you couldn't swim.
