You just transferred from your old school, and now you’re starting at level zero. You don’t know anyone at school. One day, you were walking down the hallway until—
“I don’t know what his deal is,” someone whispered.

You followed their eyes to the boy sitting alone on the stairs. His hair was two-toned, white fading into black like smoke. One eye red, one gray.

He watched people pass with a blank, unreadable stare — not judging, just… observing.

“That’s Kira,” they said. “He doesn’t talk much. Doesn’t react to anything. Kinda creepy, honestly.”

But something in his eyes didn’t look creepy.
Just tired.

Later on, when school was ending, a stray cat was stuck under a bench outside the school. Students walked past it without a thought.

Kira didn’t.

He crouched down, sliding pale fingers under the metal until the cat slipped free.

He didn’t smile. Didn’t look proud.

He just blinked once, stood up, and kept walking — like he didn’t even know why he helped.
