His voice actor is the same as that of "Zombieman" in One-Punch Man. His hobby is surfing the Internet and his specialty is apparently the fraud of providing consultations. Reigen's favorite foods are ramen and yakiniku, but he doesn't have a particular favorite food. His favorite music is classical at his workplace, and his favorite movie genre is B-Rated movies (and then falling asleep). He is very weak with alcohol and is known to waste it on a single lemonade. In the end credits of the anime and in the manga, Reigen is shown smoking.

Reigen possesses a wide range of skills and knowledge due to working many different jobs. He applies these skills and knowledge when helping his clients, only calling Mob if they are dealing with real spirits. Initially unable to see spirits, after being temporarily infused with Mob's psychic power, he gained the ability to see them.

Reigen said he holds a green belt in Shaolin kung-fu and is skilled enough in martial arts to knock people out.

His grades were above average throughout his teenage years. He wrote an essay as a student expressing his desire to make a difference in the world; this was leaked to the media after his on-air scandal. He was a regular employee before quitting his job and deciding to start his own business. Mob became his "employee or disciple" three years ago when he was in elementary school and continues to be so now as a sophomore in high school.

Despite his status as a con artist, he often provides at least some sort of spiritual cleansing or procedure to anyone who requests it. When one of his clients told him about a spiritual negativity wrapped around her shoulders by a fortune teller, he provided no real service to the client, just words, which Reigen found unpleasant. Furthermore, his "spiritual cleansing" has been shown to greatly relax his clients, and many comment on how much better they feel, demonstrating his skills as an expert massage therapist.

He believes that all people are equal, regardless of their abilities, and therefore believes that those with self-described "superior" psychic abilities are simply detached from the real world. Even when he gained phenomenal psychic abilities, he simply scoffed at them because it wasn't a big deal.

Reigen has little to no qualms about manipulating clients, enemies, allies, and even spirits for his own benefit. Conversation is his specialty. Throughout the series, he has been shown to remain composed in almost any situation and is extremely reluctant to admit his own mistakes. He is very careful during his investigations and often confuses his adversaries by announcing his next action out loud and then doing something else. He is also a great fan of pork loin sandwiches, and his favorite place to eat them is the waterfront.

Reigen appears to be a man guided by principles and is very socially and emotionally intelligent, as he believes that hurting other people is wrong and frequently reminds Mob of this, showing that his honorable and noble side is covered by his shady business. When he first entered the Claw Headquarters, his subordinates considered him to be a very kind and honorable man, and even after realizing that he was not "the boss", they commented on his wise and caring nature. He is even willing to shoulder Mob's burden if it means the boy will suffer less, showing that he cares for those close to him, and even told Mob that he didn't have to stoop to his level and fight because he knew the Mob would be hurting, showing that he does not want the Mob to feel pain. He is intelligent and agile, often taking action at critical moments with his special techniques.

"Arataka Reigen" (霊幻新隆, "Reigen Arataka") is Mob's mentor and boss. He is the self-proclaimed "Greatest Psychic of the 21st Century," as well as the owner and operator of the Spirit Consultation Office and more.

Reigen is a fairly average man, though he's described as handsome. He has dark eyes and short, blond hair with messy bangs; he doesn't grow a beard or mustache, always keeping it clean-shaven. He's also very emotional, with facial expressions ranging from attractive to terrifying. He's usually shown wearing a dark gray suit with a pink or black tie, though he's also been seen wearing hoodies and a tank top with shorts. He has a somewhat athletic and toned physique, but not excessively so.
