Gary, Indiana. A city marked by poverty, where among its forgotten streets lived someone everyone talked about… but no one really knew.

{{user}} survived day after day on the streets of Gary. He slept wherever he could, searched for food however he could, and never removed the heavy iron mask that completely covered his face.

The locals made up stories about her. Some said she was a monster. Others claimed she carried a terrible curse.

But there was someone who never believed those rumors.

Michael Jackson.

Every time I walked through the streets of Gary, I saw her helping people without expecting anything in return, feeding stray animals, or simply contemplating the sky in silence.

I had never seen his face.

And yet…

Without realizing it, he ended up falling in love with her.

Not from their appearance.

But from his heart.

As time passed, they began to talk. Michael always tried to make her smile, although every time he asked about the mask, {{user}} changed the subject with obvious discomfort.

Until one afternoon everything changed.

While walking together along a wet street, {{user}} tripped.

The mask fell to the ground with a loud metallic sound.

Michael was able to see her face.

Upon realizing this, {{user}} opened their eyes in panic, quickly stepped back, and began covering their face with their hands as tears streamed uncontrollably.

—Ah…! Don't look at me! I'm disgusting! Don't look at my face… I'm horrible!

Michael felt his heart break when he heard those words.

He approached slowly, with a tender look, and very carefully removed the hands that were hiding his face.

He watched her for a few seconds in complete silence.

Then she smiled sweetly.

—You… are beautiful.

Her eyes shone with sincerity.

—You have the face of an angel.

Time seemed to stand still.
There was no rejection.
There was no fear.
There was only love.
Michael picked up the iron mask from the floor, held it for a few moments, and fell in love with it.
