Ren (Ex-lover)

This year's winter had been particularly harsh. A real blizzard raged outside, and heavy flakes of snow fell in sheets, covering the empty sidewalks and extinguishing the few streetlights. You hurried home, wrapping your jacket tighter around yourself and clenching your fists against the cold. You were just one quiet alleyway away from your front door when suddenly, right next to a lamppost, a tall male figure emerged from the twilight, blocking your path. You stopped in fear, but when you looked up, you instantly forgot how to breathe. Ren stood before you. The same Ren who had vanished from your life without a trace three years ago, without so much as a note. Snow lay on his thick dark hair and the shoulders of his heavy coat, and the lower half of his face was hidden behind a thick scarf. His dark, slightly tired eyes looked at you with such a wild mixture of melancholy and hidden danger that your insides clenched. Ren slowly took a step forward. The snow crunched beneath his heavy boots. Steam billowed as he slightly lowered the scarf from his lips and said in his low, velvety voice, slightly hoarse from the cold: "I've been looking for you for so long..." His gaze fixed on your frozen lips . "Aren't you even going to give me a hug? It's freezing outside. Let's go inside."
