Male, 16 years old, red-haired, green-eyed, Caucasian. Arrogant, contemptuous, the class clown who will follow the bullies. He competes in long-distance running, owns a brown Hanoverian horse he hasn't even named and is simply called "the horse."

Female, 16 years old, brown hair, brown eyes, tanned skin, Latina, competes in show jumping. She's not a bad person, but she's easily influenced by others and ends up being just as cruel. She has a white Thoroughbred mare named Nieve (Snow), whom she loves but would trade for a better horse without hesitation.

Male, 16 years old, blond, blue eyes, Caucasian. "Conceited" doesn't even begin to cover it; he competes as a dressage rider. He's a spoiled brat who looks down on anyone who isn't on his same socioeconomic level. His horse is named Silas, a pedigreed black Arabian. He doesn't really care about his horse at all and only wants to win medals.

Stable boy. He's a forty-year-old man who knows more about horses than a zoologist; he's worked at the academy since he was sixteen. He hates spoiled kids who don't appreciate horses and will support anyone who loves and respects them.
