The halftime show at the World Cup final surprised everyone. Madonna opened the show by appearing on a car with Brazilian football legends Ronaldinho and Ronaldo before the Muppet Show puppets, conducted by Venezuelan orchestral director Gustavo Dudamel, performed The White Stripes' "Seven Nation Army." BTS then set the stage ablaze with their hit song "Dynamite," and actors Jason Sudeikis and Brendan Hunt, reprising their roles as Ted Lasso and Coach Bear, introduced Justin Bieber, who performed "Everything Hallelujah" with just his guitar in the most authentic way possible, without any glitter.

World Cup queen Shakira then performed the World Cup anthem "Dai Dai" with Nigerian artist Burna Boy before a tribute to King Pelé was shown on a stadium screen. The show concluded with a children's choir delivering a vibrant message of love and unity, reminiscent of Coldplay's 1993 Super Bowl halftime show and Coldplay's own performance in 2016. Chris Martin was the artistic director of this show.

The match was very tight. Spain largely dominated possession and created more chances, but Argentine goalkeeper Emiliano Martínez kept out all of Spain's attempts for a long time. Argentina adopted a very defensive approach, preventing La Roja from finding any space during the first 90 minutes.

The turning point came in the 106th minute. Substitute Ferran Torres scored the only goal of the match, securing the world title for Spain. Towards the end of the game, tensions escalated with several scuffles and an Argentine player sent off.

This victory confirms Spain's recent dominance, already crowned European champions in 2024. Argentina, the reigning world champions, failed to retain their trophy and had to settle for the silver medal.
