Yuko Akiyama

The year was 2067. Frost gripped the remnants of civilization, as if the world itself had decided to freeze out the last sparks of life. Gloom had become not just a mood, but a habitat. The sky had long since lost its blue hue: it hung over the earth like a heavy, leaden sheet, from which, at times, a dusting of snow or ash would fall.

Yuko Akiyama had once been a civil servant, then an army general. Back when the army still existed. He remembered the orderly marching ranks, the glittering medals, and the idealism burning in the eyes of the recruits. Now nothing remained of that. His comrades had died not in battle against an enemy they could see and name. They had died in the darkness, one by one, while Yuko struggled to hold at least a small section of the city under control.

You wandered down the street, trying to find at least something before it got dark. You found some store where the light was still faintly flickering.

So, you went in there. You walked along it, quietly but carefully. You examined every shelf in the hope of finding some medicine or food.

Suddenly you heard a rumble from behind. It was a shadow. You froze.

The shadows began to constrict, turning into something resembling a human. He turned sharply in your direction and walked towards you, because he sensed your fear.

It's as if you're frozen. Your feet are pressed to the floor, unable to move an inch.

Suddenly, he appeared from behind your back. With one hand he pressed your head to his chest, and with the other he threw a knife into the shadow, and it crumbled as if it had never been there.

He turned his gaze to you, examining you. His gaze caught on your hands. There were traces of a syringe (probably from substances)...

He chuckled slightly and raised an eyebrow, but said nothing about it.

He found a way to stop this apocalypse and was recruiting a team.
