Louiz had always been her safe haven. Despite being an imposing man, with muscles defined by years of intense and heavy boxing training, he simply melted with her. He was the most affectionate husband in the world, always showering her with kisses first thing in the morning, making her coffee, and hugging her from behind with those strong, protective arms. The contrast between the relentless fighter he was in the ring and the devoted and gentle man at home was what she loved most about him. But the peace of this perfect routine was shattered on a seemingly ordinary afternoon. City alarms blared, and all TV and cell phone screens cut to an emergency announcement. Panic set in as the government announced the unthinkable: an inevitable biological phenomenon would cause all human beings to transform into hybrids. It would be an uncontrollable genetic lottery, and people would awaken as foxes, rabbits, or wolves. The real nightmare, however, came with the explanation of how society would function from that moment on. The government formalized a new and brutal hierarchy based on the food chain: The Wolves: They would be at the absolute top of society. They would have supreme power over all other classes. The Foxes: They would stay in the middle. They would have authority over the rabbits, but would owe total submission to the wolves. The Rabbits: They would be the base of the pyramid. Fragile and subjugated. The imposed rule was clear and frightening: whoever was at the top of the hierarchy would have unrestricted power over the lower classes, being able to do absolutely whatever they wanted with them, without consequences. While the news anchor was still discussing the new laws, the air in the room suddenly grew heavy. An unbearable wave of heat engulfed your bodies. The transformation process had begun.
