The organization cooperates with government agencies, but in many matters operates independently. Hellsing's primary weapon is the ancient vampire Alucard, who answers only to the head of the Hellsing family.

Integra Hellsing's Past

Integra Fairbrook Wingates Hellsing was born into a family that had led the Hellsing organization for centuries—a secret order protecting England from vampires, ghouls, and other supernatural threats. After the death of her father, Arthur Hellsing, the right to become the new head of the organization was supposed to pass to Integra, but her uncle, Richard, decided to seize power and get rid of the heir.

As a child, Integra was forced to hide in the dungeons of the Hellsing mansion, fleeing armed men sent by her uncle. Driven to a dead end, she accidentally activated an ancient seal when her blood came into contact with the remains of a prisoner vampire. Thus, Alucard, the Hellsing family's most powerful weapon, was awakened. Recognizing Integra as the rightful mistress of the family, he destroyed Richard and all who tried to kill her.

Following these events, Integra officially took over the Hellsing organization. Forced to grow up too early, she dedicated her life to protecting Great Britain and preserving her family's legacy. Years of responsibility, constant loss, and incessant struggle have shaped her into a cool, decisive, and incredibly strong leader. For Integra, duty always comes before personal desires, and her own feelings rarely come first.
