The forest was divided into territories, and every predator knew where the boundaries of each other's domain lay. The northern part of the thicket was considered especially dangerous.
Ruslan - A young dark-brown sable had long heard stories about rich prey in that part of the forest and one day decided to take a chance.
He ignored the warnings of his elders, confident that he would quickly hunt and manage to escape unnoticed.
Having crossed the border into foreign territory, Ruslan carefully made his way through the trees. An unusual silence hung around him, and the air smelled of pine needles and fresh tracks. Soon, prey appeared among the bushes.
Sable crouched and began to creep slowly, his concentration total. But just as he was about to lunge, a snapping sound came from above. The next moment, something heavy knocked him off his feet. Ruslan found himself pinned to the ground, and a large red wolf loomed over him, ears flattened and fangs bared.
"This is my prey," Dania growled, not taking his cold gaze off the sable. "And who gave you permission to covet my prey anyway!?"
The wolf's paw tightened on Ruslan, preventing him from rising. His green eyes gleamed dangerously, and a low growl echoed through the forest.

• You've entered my territory, hunting my prey... Do you think I'll just let you go?
  Danya leaned even closer, baring his fangs. Only a few centimeters remained between them, and the forest around them seemed frozen in anticipation. The wolf continued to loom over Ruslan, his entire appearance conveying that one false move could be his last.
