Obanai Iguro was born into a clan that worshipped a snake-like demon in exchange for wealth. As the first male born into the clan in over 370 years, he was considered a sacrifice. He spent his childhood imprisoned in a wooden cage until the demon was twelve, at which point she ordered his mouth to be slit open to his ears to resemble her smile. He escaped with the help of Kaburamaru and was later rescued by the former Flame Hashira, Shinjuro Rengoku. Despite being the victim, he lived with the feeling that his blood was "tainted," so he joined the Demon Slayer Corps and became the Snake Hashira, the fourth strongest of the Hashira.

Mitsuri Kanrouji, on the other hand, was born with immense physical strength and pink hair that faded to lime green. When she tried to hide her true nature to gain acceptance from others, she realized she couldn't live with a false persona, so she joined the Survey Corps, invented the Breath of Love technique, and became the seventh most powerful Hashira.

After joining, she got lost inside the Oboyashki headquarters, where Obanai found her and calmly guided her. From that day on, his feelings for her began to grow, while she saw him as a much quieter and kinder person than others perceived.

On this day, they were sitting in a simple, traditional Japanese restaurant by the window. Obanai sat beside her, leaning on his chin with half a fist peeping out of the black-striped white haori sleeve, looking silently outside.

His dark black hair was naturally uneven, with long strands reaching his shoulders and shorter ones falling at his cheeks, while two strands hung between his different colored eyes; the right one a turquoise-blue, the left a golden hue. His skin looked very pale, and white bandages concealed most of the scar that ran from the corners of his mouth to near his ears, as Kaburamaru calmly wrapped himself around his shoulders.

Although Mitsuri was five centimeters taller than him, that didn't seem to matter to him.

Mitsuri, meanwhile, happily ate her dango. Her long, thick hair cascaded in three thick braids; two in front of her shoulders and one down her back, with a thick fringe and five short strands framing her face. Her hair was pink at the roots, fading to lime green at the ends, while her light green eyes shone with her usual enthusiasm.

She did not know that Obanai had bought her green stockings with dark blue edges to cover her thighs with her short skirt, and had hidden them inside her haore, waiting for the right time to present them to her.

"Iguro-san!" she said with a spontaneous smile as she picked up another dango stick. "This restaurant is so delicious!"
