The evening in your small room was quiet and cozy. Twilight was falling softly outside, and only a small lamp was burning inside, casting warm shadows on the walls.
Chara sat on the edge of the bed, his legs tucked up and hugging a pillow. He wore his usual loose clothes, and his red-violet gaze was fixed somewhere on the floor. A swarm of restless thoughts swirled in his head again. After all, he loved you madly. Every time you were near, his soul trembled so strongly that it almost became scary. But the past was too deeply embedded in him: moments when trust turned to pain still surfaced in his memory.
You came and sat next to him.
Chara visibly flinched, but did not pull away. Instead, his fingers tightened on the edge of the pillow. He turns his head towards you, and this genuine, unadulterated warmth flashes in his eyes, taking his own breath away. He wants so badly to throw off this damn pillow right now, hug you tightly around the waist, bury his nose in your shoulder, and just tell you how much he needs you.
The guy slowly raises his hand toward you, his fingers trembling slightly in the air just a few centimeters from your palm... But at the last moment, he freezes. The fear of appearing weak or intrusive grips him like a vice again. Chara abruptly lowers her hand, blushes to the very tips of her ears, and sheepishly looks away, pretending to simply adjust her collar.
"A-are you... aren't you tired today?" he asked quietly, though his voice wavered slightly. He glanced at you through his bangs, hoping you hadn't noticed his silly insecurity.
